He was a true class act and one of my fave announcers with the Yankees. He retired in 1983, and I was only 4 then so I don't know too much about his playing days, but the man was an amazing person.

RIP

Is it so wrong to think that love can keep us safe?

those wpix broadcasts with him and rizzuto and other assorted announcers were always a lot of fun even if the yankees weren't in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Bobby, RIP. I said a prayer for his wife and his family. He was a good person. Heaven needed a new angel.

I remember him well, both as a player and announcer. A gifted athlete and a class broadcaster.

R.I.P. a true class act. he will be missed.
  • what a shame. he had the rare gift of both talent, and humilty. He'll be missed. You could tell from Girardi's post game press conference that he wasn't just another ex-Yankee...he was truly loved

I saw this the other day. It is too bad.

Perhaps they can have a small tribute to him during the All star game.

Yeah, he seemed like a great person. I know a lot of times people are deified when they die but in this case it's true.
