Since it's a long weekend, I am heading to Chicago for a few days to get lost.
Anyone here have any cool restaurants or bars to recommend?

    BLASHPAMY!!!

not to diss Lou, but giordanos is better. and its not the tomatoes that bother me. its the fact that the "sauce" has no flavor. Giordanos sauce is far more tasty than Lou.

  • Go to Sheffield's in Wrigleyville. Large selection of beer and great music.

I like Giordano's for pizza, but you really can't go wrong.

Schuba's on Belmont and Southport is a great place to see live music. :)

    White Castles..

lol, but for real, I lived in and around this city all my life and I rarely try restuarants. I LOVE the food at Goose Island. Pizzaria Uno, Due, Home Run Inn and Giordanos is also tasty.. I'm really not picky when it comes to food. As long as its hot and spicy, I give it an A.

morton's is a top notch steakhouse. if you want some extra chicago flavor (thought not quite up to morton's from a food standpoint, but very good), try ditka's across the street from the hancock center.

wrigleyville bars are just incredible. spend some time just 'being' around there if you can. the people are super-friendly!

too bad it's soooo cold this weekend, or i'd suggest a walk down the magnificent mile or spending a bit of time at milinium park (or however it's spelled).

the other cool thing about chicago is...if you have something in mind that you want to do, just ask someone. for the most part, we're all about a good time around here and enjoy helping people from out of town.

If you like Thai food, I just went to an AWESOME place tonight on Sheffield just south of Wrigleyfield. Its called Cozy. http://www.cozychicago.com

It was DELICIOUS, and its right by all the wrigleyville bars. Its small, and the walls a decorated with old fashioned kids toys. Very cute/tasty place.

If you like swanky places, there is a place called Hot Chocolate, in my neighborhood, on Damen Ave that is fancy, but has the BEST desserts and hot chocolate ever! its in the 17 to 1900 block I'm pretty sure. Their hot chocolate is like drinking liquid candy bars, I kid you not.

If you like Sushi there is a place in the 2000 Block of Damen ave called Coast.. AMAZING. I am obsessed with sushi, and this place has huge cuts of fish, and its wonderful.

Of course there are always the typical tourist type ares, but if you ever need advice on the less traveled places, shoot me a PM!
  • Gino's is better thab Lou's or Giordano's.
  • For a great beer selection check out The Maproom and Hopleaf.

  • when I was there in 2004, we ate dinner at Harey Carey's, and then walked to Red Fish (I think that's what it was), it was like a live music restaurant/bar...and we stayed there until it closed. Had a blast.

Sheffield's is a kick ass bar. Went there after a handful of Cubs games last year and had a blast.

  • Gold Star Bar (Division St)

    Just go there, trust me.
  • are you kidding me??? Lou's scrumptious buttery crust is awesome, they hand pick and can their own tomatoes fresh from California, their sausage has the best flavor ever and the mozzarella cheese.......YUMMY!!!!

i will admit, all the other pizza places are good, but nothing can top Lou's.
(i do like the cheesy garlic bread from Giordano's with some marinara)
