my issue is this: If they could take a picture, why couldn't shoot the damn thing with a tranquilizer?

Methinks they should have tried harder.

Lets go easy on the thread titles here, buddy.

Some of us live in Minnesota

Some of us work with the mentally disabled on a daily basis.

I'm not defending their actions, but have some understanding. Thanks.

One of my friends pried a relish jar off a live and conscious skunk's head a few years back - the skunk was asphyxiating, the jar was so tight. Somehow the skunk didn't spray my friend. It made the local paper and then the year end edition! :D

Moral of the story: If he can do this, then surely could have and should have tranked the bear long before it came close to so many people, in my opinion. I come from a family of hunters and don't have a problem with hunting per se, but let's be humane! This bear was suffering for days with the thing on its head

But to play Devil's Advocate: They may have been concerned about tranking it and it not being out, or coming to when they were working on it... Maybe?

Hitting an animal with an traq is not an exact science...too much can go wrong (and will).
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
