New imac user.... questions

When I get a dmg file..... and I click it ... it opens the thing on the destop. If I exit the program... what do I do or where do I put the dmg file....


Its not like an application is it... where i would find it in my applications???

    the dmg file is like a zip file.
    clicking on it opens it and shows the files that are in the dmg file/folder.
    If the opened dmg contains an application, you just have to drag it to the application folder of you mac.

    yea I think that's it too.
    when you open the .dmg file you should find whatever you wanted to download. there might be instructions on what to do, but if not then click on the application (inside the .dmg) and this will most likely install it for you.

    Yes I figured it out... thankx..... it was easy. imac are so much better
