Greetings,

I have coordinated a screening of Body of War in Toronto with the objective of bring awareness to the documentary as well as to the causes of Thomas Young and Eddie Vedder.

This is the movie that inspired Eddie to write the remarkably pertinent song 'No More'.

The event is for charity with all proceeds going to Iraq Veterans Against the War (http://www.IVAW.org).

- Event Details -
Date: November 11th (Remembrance Day), 2008
Time: 7:00pm
Location: Bloor Cinema (506 Bloor St W, Toronto)
Ticket Info: http://www.BodyOfWarToronto.com

- About the movie -
For those not familiar with this film, it is produced and directed by Phil Donahue and Ellen Spiro, and features two original songs by Eddie Vedder (No More). Body of War is a naked and honest portrayal of what it's like inside the body, heart and soul of this extraordinary and heroic young man.'

For more information please visit the film's website:

- Charity -
This is a charity event with all proceeds going to Iraq Veterans Against the War (http://www.IVAW.org). IVAW has many ties locally to Toronto, specifically the funds raised will be going to support the legal cases of local war resisters that the US government is attempting to deport.

Historically the Canadian government has provided sanctuary to war resisters but something has changed with the current government that is in place and there is a legal battle going on daily to keep the resisters in Canada. If deported they will face jail time for not participating in a war that has been deemed illegal under international law.

- Last Points -
I have put forward the upfront costs for this event in the objective of brining awareness to this timely movie, the cause it supports and encouraging people to act. I respectfully ask that the PJ community support this cause by purchasing tickets or via donation.

Tickets and event information is available at http://www.BodyOfWarToronto.com, advanced tickets are selling for $11.00 (limited quantity available) and will be going up to $15.00. Donations can be made through the website.

Please forward this email to anyone that you think would be interested, and if you are interested in assisting with promoting the event don't hesitate to contact me as I have thousands of flyers, postcards and posters printed and ready for distribution.

I look forward to seeing you on the night of the event,
Andrew

i was at this screening last nite ...

i must say the movie was actually very subtlely powerful ... especially the roll call of who voted yes and who voted no ...

it was really sad to see these "elected representatives" just spew out bs lies and talking points but at the same time hopeful listening to the no side give out impassioned speeches ...

well worth a watch i would say ...
