Can't believe this thing is being voted on again! I agree with the previous
post about the pork. This bill couldn't pass on it's own so they added
flavor enhancers. (Lucky for us all this vote is just a minor distraction
from all of the sweetly entertaining debates this week. hmm.)
It's also hard to understand why more dem and repub reps don't
go against house leadership and vote their conscience (or at least
vote for the people they represent.) Last I heard, most economists
and a vast majority of the American public disagree with this
bailout/buyout/loan from China. A month ago there was no advertised
financial meltdown, but now according the leader of the free world
we are landing in doomsday if this bill doesn't pass. huh?

fox news fan or not, this run down on the House vote tomorrow is
interesting

  • A month ago there was no advertised
    financial meltdown

No offense meant to the OP, but for anyone who didn't have their head up their ass through all of this, it was clear as day what was happening.

The numbers have been screaming this for a LONG time.
I've posted articles and video clips for MONTHS about this thing coming down the pipes.
Total banking system non-borrowed reserves went negative over 6 months ago!
The dollar was down to 70 on the index by January-ish and the mega-volatility kicked up around the same time.

Wall St. pundits have been writing articles and talking about this for at least a year,
and as someone else here pointed out, economists worth a salt have had this thing predicted for almost a decade.

    Look.
If you expect the network nightly news to advertise to the world in advance the graveness of the US financial situation, you have lost your yonkers.

They are trying to maintain calm, not instill panic.
Of course, if they are trying to pass their bailout bill, that may change, but ...

    ;)

    Come on fellas.
    Get smart now.
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
  • Well, I shouldn't post and then disappear for a few days! But out of
self respect, I should reply to this.

And, you exactly made my point. Federal experts knew of these issues
for quite a while. So why did we have emergency legislation during
a week of intense debates just a short time before the election and Bush
leaves office? (His other emergency bills he pushed include declaring
war on Iraq and the Patriot Act.) Interesting timing.

The only good thing that's come of this bailout plan so far is that
I'm incensed enough to get more involved. Writing my senators
and congressman before it passed just wasn't enough. I need a
    louder voice.

I can't believe that people bought this bill just because we were all
    worried about our wallets!!!
