like a DUMBASS because you haven't heard of 80% of these countries, much less know where they are?!?

I guess I am going to have to go upstairs and play with the Leap Frog globe, so my child doesn't end up paying for my lack of knowledge...

Take care,
I still want you all to "take care"--I am just damn tired of typing it.

unlike many in the us I know geography

It is not necessarily important that people know most of it.

What are things that don't matter to the average American, and shouldn't, Alex?

    Correct for $1,000.

(I'm only half kidding here. We pay people that should care for us).

I'm pretty worldly, been to 25 countries other than the US. I actually think the olympics, which I've watched each one since '72, with I remember the bad part of vividly, and they may be part of what has sparked my interest in travel and the world outside my own....

No, I love geography and I love atlases. I'm thinking about buying a huge map of the world to hang in my room.

Geography and history are key elements in understanding the world today.

Projection and betting won't get you very far.

I don't know about Cate, but I knew where Djibouti was. It's not that strange that someone knows where a country is.

When I see an unfamiliar country's name I simply look it up and try to learn something new. The ceremonies are helpful by showing a map. :p

Besides, I figure why waste time and energy 'curs[ing] my ass for being dumb'?
