Obama.....

Those of you who are really excited about Obama, I ask why? Here's what he really wants to do:
Taxes - Everyone has heard the tax plan now. There are some positives, exempting senior citizens, and cutting taxes on the lower tiers are both great. Every politician elected since Carter has promised them, until they are President and have to pay for them, and then they forget about them. Obama also wants to tax US citizens and redistribute that money (30 Billion Dollars) to the U.N. for them to give to "poor" nations as it sees fit. Public assistance for other countries paid by us. (See the Global Anti-Poverty Act)
Healthcare - Obama supports Univeral Health Care, which is great. However, his plan for paying for this incredibly expensive position is 'insurance reform, reducing costs, removing pharmaceutical patent protections, and requiring employer contribution". How he plans on reducing the cost of medical treatment and reforming the insurance industry is unknown, removing pharmaceutical patents is a judicial issue, and forcing businesses to pay for health care is not economically viable.
Affirmative Action - Obama supports monetary reparations for both african americans and native americans, but neglects to indicate how to pay for them. (http://starbulletin.com/2008/07/28/news/story05.html)
Trade - Obama has flipped completely on the issue of free trade and NAFTA. He is now against it, but he's not sure how much he's against it (http://money.cnn.com/2008/06/20/magazines/fortune/easton_obama.fortune/?postversion=2008062308)
Iraq - Everyone has heard about the 16 month withdrawal of troops. I oppose the war, but this position is irresponsible and is simply political in order to claim he is candidate that brings the troops home the quickest. Even if this were the correct course of action, it is ignorant to announce it to the world. Whether we like our presence there or not, we are there. Undermining our troops for political gain is not something a CinC should ever do.
Foreign Policy - Everyone has heard the naive remark Obama made about being willing to negotiate with any regime without stipulation. This is something that no US President has EVER done - there are always conditions with some regimes. Obama will be no different once he is elected. This is another example of a campaign promise that will absolutely not be kept once he is elected. How can he say that Jerusalem will remain undivided, but that he will talk to the Palestinians without condition? How can he call for outrage at what's happening in Darfur and be willing to talk without condition. Obama is a "Globalist", his first serious FP speech was delivered at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, much of his rhetoric suggests surrendering a lot of sovereignty to international organizations with no accountability to the US electorate.
From his position page:
-He wants to "achieve true energy security", yet is against offshore-drilling and nuclear energy, and flipflops on biofuels due to the food trade-off. ???
-He supports initiatives to continue to foster global cooperation, but is (lately) opposed to free trade.????
-He wants to "secure all nuclear weapons and material from rogue states", yet is willing to negotiate with them without precondition, and if the UN deems them poor enough, he'll send your tax dollars to them.
-Somehow he's going to cut everyone's taxes except the top 10%, but still will have enough money to fund universal health care, increase the troop presence in Afganistan, increase overall troops by 67,000, send 30 billion to the UN, bankroll social security, and fast track 12 million illegal aliens to citizenship (including health care) - THINK ABOUT THAT USING BASIC MATHEMATICAL COMPUTATIONS.
Obama is a charismatic, savvy guy who is willing to say whatever is blowing with the wind without regard for accountability. The BULK of his proposals are not economically viable without SIGNIFICANTLY raising taxes and increasing spending. I'm cool with a tax increase as long as there is something to show for it, but he promises the world. He wants to give away 30 billion dollars for fuck's sake.
Someone help me with all this. How do we reconcile this enough to believe anything he says?

Spells bad news for investors
Just being curious by nature, I read this article and I fail to see where it says he supports monetary reparations. It says he thinks the government should offer more than words and offer "deeds".
The UN deal - "The Global Anti-Poverty Act" scares me. Giving away nearly 1% of our gross national product without control of what it is used for makes me antsy.
As for Obama being "savvy", I think most would agree he is a pretty charismatic individual. He makes a lot of superficial "sense" until you examine what his posiions really are. A lot of his charisma is "relative" as well - when he stands on a podium next to McCain or Hillary he projects a lot more "mojo". Hillary simply took the wrong approach in the primary and looked like a bitch because of it, McCain has less charisma than any candidate since Dukakis.
I'm no Democrat, but I sure as hell won't vote for a Republican.
As it stands right now, Obama's plan is at least a step in the right direction.
And btw, didn't the "President" just tell us thing are getting better in Iraq???
Sounds like a good time to leave
