I am voting for Obama but I have to say: I am really bored with his speech tonight... he is stating nothing but the obvious, over and over again...
But then again, all American politician do the same thing. It is just a show and I have to say it reminds me a lot of a melodramatic play. I think I am going to stop watching political speeches altogether-if I want theatrics, I'll go to the theatre.

yeah, so much for change...You know one of my fears for Obama is that he promise so much change, and I am scared that like most politician he will not delver on his promises. And honestly, I dont want to see him fail. :(

  • he certainly is making a lot of promises. It seems life in America will be perfect under Barack.

We will create new jobs, we will get rid of oil dependency, we will provide school and healthcare. We will defend America also!
And, AND...wait for it, we are going to cut taxes!!!

Life gets better and taxes go down, why has no one thought of this before ;)

You forgot I will end global warming, cure cancer, end poverty and achieve world peace for I am Barack Apollo Obama - God of the liberals. ;)

I'm joking, but yeah he's making promises that would be impressive if just one was kept. I can't see any of what he is saying be accomplished anytime soon.

  • Too bad you're bored by the speech...

I'm thinking about all the crack heads on this forum that still ask "what is he going to change"

you need to be paying attention....

and the naysayers that want to know what his plans are and how is he going to do it

you need to be paying attention....

I just said the same thing.

Blah blah blah, I’ll do this, I’ll do that.

Why don’t the delegates play a game of SimCity for a month, 24/7 and whoever does better gets to be president. Lol!

    That's fucking bullshit.

I watched the entire speech. It was typical Washington insider promises. If he becomes president watch that fucking speech in 4 years and tell me how much of it was rhetoric. If you really think he'll accomplish more than 5% of what he talked about you're the crackhead. The guy has never been an effective legislator. I don't know why anyone thinks he'd be an effective executive. I now understand why the dems talk about hope as much as they do. When you've got nothing tangible to hold on to, you can always hope.

I did like some of his barbs at Bush and at McCain, but his promises were nothing but empty rhetoric.

Yeah, but in fairness when you ask them who they support you get the same thing.

what's rhetoric and how do you sort it out now?

    do you know the answers?

    what's bullshit?

Obama's speech was what it needed to be--mostly a reassurance to the unconverted. I thought the people who spoke before him were awesome, including, but not limited to, Hillary, Bill Clinton, and most especially Al Gore.

The bullshit is your implication that if we don't understand how Obama will fix what ails us, we simply aren't paying attention and we must be crack heads. He had a lot of grand ideas. He thinks the government can solve our problems and provide everything to everyone, etc... I disagree with many of his points, not because I'm a crackhead, but because I have no evidence that the government can do anything effectively or efficiently. BTW, I will be in threads next week calling bullshit on McCain as well. The Reps have spent the better part of a decade completely screwing up the country.

Well sure... we don't know who will win the game until it's played.

But we need the pep talk,

    .....we got the plan tonight

yeah, there is no evidence that the government is working

but we have to start somewhere to fix it....

so being an optimist here is more beneficial than being a pessimist

we can debate it forever.... that's really the point of the speech.
