liberalism is akin to facism?

A few nights ago I saw Jonah Goldberg on C-Span (Yes, I watch C-span sometimes) and he was going on and on about how modern liberals are the facists, not conservatives. The examples he uses are Hitler's interest in vegenism, whole foods, natural foods, organic foods, anti-child-labor laws, a gauranteed fourty-hour work week, and several others.
My question is, what's his point? Is he saying that we should bring back child labor, so we're not like the Nazis? I don't get it. Is he saying that natural, organic foods are evil?
If anyone has read his book on the subject, and can explain to me why his ideas make sense, I'd like to hear them.

    There's already a thread here
don't know if that helps though.
I didn't read this book but from what I just saw, it belongs somewhere in the trash.

So, Hitler was a vegan, Hitler was a nazi, hence vegans are Nazis. (And only liberals are vegans of course)
And he opposed child labour, he was a nazi, those who oppose child labour are nazis.

Fascists are nothing like the american conservatives nor liberals in this day and age. However, 30s fascism had its roots deep in social conservatism as is actually pretty evident if you look at their policies. But they were also in favour of social programs for their population.

Anyway, sounds like somone trying to squeeze into Coulter's market.

    no,

Facism is about forcing control over how society thinks and feels and acts.

It's only facist if the government is using force to make everyone be vegan or force everyone to do whatever.

    Facism is about force.

"Fascism is an authoritarian political ideology (generally tied to a mass movement) that considers individual and social interests subordinate to the interests of the state or party. Fascists seek to forge a type of national unity, usually based on (but not limited to) ethnic, cultural, racial, religious attributes. The key attribute is intolerance of others: other religions, languages, political views, economic systems, cultural practices, etc. Various scholars attribute different characteristics to fascism, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: nationalism, statism, militarism, totalitarianism, anti-communism, corporatism, populism, collectivism, and opposition to political and economic liberalism.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]"

Either American political party could be evolve to this system but we're not even close at this juncture.

As long as you have the ability to make free decisions without being shot for it, you don't have facisim. Now we can discuss the level of freedom and liberty or lack therof that we currently have or should have more of, but Jonah Goldberg, is selling books.
