I pledge to you a government that will not only work well, but wisely, its ability to act tempered by prudence, and its willingness to do good, balanced by the knowledge that government is never more dangerous than when our desire to have it help us blinds us to its great power to harm us.

Right. But racism is dead and buried in this country. Unbelievable.

Wow. Not only is the receipt disturbing, but perhaps even more disturbing are the people's comments on the website below the article.
  • as wrong as it is...isn't firing the person enough?

Yep, those comments are deeply disturbing.

Friend of mine who is Jewish married a woman from Kansas. The two of them went back there to visit family one year and when they came back, my friend mentioned to me that there are actually country clubs in Kansas that don't accept Jews. WTF is going on in Kansas?
  • Someone was goofing around on the computer system and tagged it on at the bottom of the list of the return options. It could have been created as a joke in bad taste....people do stupid and rash things at work all the time, and it's only a shoe store. They sell shoes not golden swastikas, and KKK outfits.

    They immediately fired the employee.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

i agree.....unless it was proved that this has happened repeatedly and the store ignored it, what else can the store do but fired the employee and say they are sorry

Shouldn't they have fired at least two employees? The person that put it in the system and the one who selected it for this guy's receipt, or did the same employee do both?

I thought this was a good comment:

"Well, a little bit of info for most, have you ever playd the game where you say something to one person, and that person passes it to the next, then they pass it and it just keeps goin from there and the truth gets twisted!!! Well thats wats happening here, yea it was wrong, very wrong, but it was a isolated incident, I have been in many Journeys stores throught the country, and have been treated with absolute respect, and made very welcome as I shopped. This is not a code that the company generated for the computer system, I have been in retail management for many years and I know the employee takes the customers name per individual that makes a return or exchange, so it was the employee that made the terrible decision to enter the phrase, THE EMPLOYEE, not the company. You gotta remember you cant control wat every person thinks, says, or does, if you could, this would be a perfect world. So before everyone goes and makes their assumptions, maybe you should go get your facts straight, and know this is a isolated incident. I will continue to shop there, and support the company, but not the idiot employee that gave the wonderful company and hard working employees a bad wrap. GET THE FACTS BEFORE MAKING ASSUMPTIONS."

    I agree.

But what will now probably happen is a lawsuit, where they will seek millions, and more people will lose their jobs that had nothing to do with this. If it was a behavior that the company knew about then they should be punished in some way, but not to the tune of millions. It is probably some prank pulled by a few jerk-offs who should be fired and that be the end of it.
  • They're definitely over-reacting over this....They lost sleep over something printed on a receipt? Please.

Guy probably thought it was funny, did it, got caught then got fired....Beginning middle and end. Don't protest, ya wimps.

Probably just one employee involved....at the store I manage anyone can type in a customer on a receipt if they so desire it.

Yeah it seems like he is seeking millions.
