just thinking about how much money is spent on the campaigns ?

considering people are going hungry and all, just seems like there is a better way to do this in this day in age that wouldnt cost millions upon millions of dollars.

I'm sick of how much money is spent on everything relating to government.

And with all that money spent, all we're left with is two very bad choices in my opinion.

oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

well, it's not spent in a vaccum though if you want a positive spin.

This will blow your mind then, I heard on the radio awhile back that Rudi Guilani spent more money on the Florida primary campaign than all of the Canadian Federal Parties spent on the 2006 Canadian federal election.

I am sick because I heard there was a lynching style death in Texas on September 26, 2008.

Brandon McClelland killed in Paris Texas. I felt the news too deplorable too post...but leave this drop for someone else who may feel as concerned as I do.

    peace.

  • In the recent Canadian elections, hundreds of millions (I've heard everywhere from $277 - $350) was spent....to elect the same guy.
Apparently that's $10 for every man, woman and child in Canada.
    I want my money back.

Once the election ends, a ton of people will be out of jobs. As far as the money spent, it is worth $25 to me for me to feel like I helped Obama win. To others it is worth more, to some it is worth less. I don't have a problem with it really. Public financing is a little different.
  • I'd feel more sick about how much debt gets slapped on every dollar that is printed by the private cartel that owns the US lock stock and barrel...and then some.

  • im ok with it.
  • Well I'm sick of athletes getting paid millions on top of millions to play a game for 12 years and retire at the age of 34 and still bitch that they don't make enough.

I'm sick of so much money being spent on NASA when we haven't really found anything but rocks and bullshit in space.

I'm sick of so many corrupt politicians changing there stories to cater to certain people and only wanting to spend more on a war that isn't solving anything.

I'm sick of huge corporations selling themselves overseas.

There is a lot to be sick of in this world today and it's not getting any better.

Ever get an MRI or laser eye surgery? Ever sleep in a memory foam bed? Have any cordless tools? There has been a ton of stuff that Nasa either invented or helped to invent that have eventually become consumer products that have made life better for people on earth. On top of that to me scientific research for understanding the universe is never a bad thing. Plus I am pretty sure only a small percentage of nasa's funding actually goes to manned space missions. I am pretty sure most of it goes into research.

thing about those rednecks is, they are the first to grab on to an ideology, if its mainstream, and the last to let go of it.,

So... you are sick about the upkeep of our highways? You're sick aboutthe fixed income checks for our old people? You are sick about our Air Traffic Controllers? You're sick about the maintenance of our National Parks? You're sick about medical care for our elderly?

You know... this is not all taxpayer dollars... right? That's why there are $1,000.00 a plate dinners at the Biltmore... and corporate contribution (to both candidates... hedging their bets, you know... so they can receive political favor from the winner... whomever it is) and not fully funded by your tax dollars.

I think the idea of spending almost a billion dollars on a public relations contest is insane considering the state of affairs around the world. wherever it comes from.

    it could be better spent.

Trust me... I COMPLETELY agree. These people that make these HUGE contributions could probably do a lot better things for the benefit of a lot of people... but... they CHOOSE to spend their money for the benefit of themselves (in the way of favors that will yield much more than they spend). It's a simple Return on Investment.
    ...
If I could fix it... I would LIMIT the Campaign Season to 6 months prior to the National Election. Networks would bid for the 3 Presidential and 2 Vice Presidential Debates... which they could sell broadcast rights to other networks. One network cannot moderate more than one debate.
Contributions would be limited to $5,000.00 per individual... $1,000,000.00 (total) per corporation (head Corporation). Corporations with Government deals, such as Boeing, Lockheed-Murietta, TRW, etc... limited to $500,000.00 (total).
Taxpayers would only pay for the actuial elections. Election results opened to the same U.N. Elections moderators that we mandate against other nations.
