ONE election day for President; one for all the other shit

I've already voted, here in Nevada.

Our ballot had the presidential hopefuls (of course) and also five ballot questions and probably another 20-30 state senate, family court, justice of the peace, etc. type elections.

This shit is really going to slow down the process on 11/4. I can remember past years where there were up to 15 confusing ballot questions (frankly, most of them don't even affect me).

I am already imagining chaos on Election Day. Why don't we vote for President on one day and all the other shit on either the preceding or following day?

seems that if the media weren't controlled we would have a bit more info on what to expect come election day.

but it should be on one day. we can barely get 50% of the population to vote for president, how many I wonder would vote for all that other shit if the president weren't on the ballot.

I'm down for that. Although maybe not two days in a row since people might have trouble getting off work for two days in a row. But I agree that there's too much stuff on the ballot. Not only does it slow down the process, but I think the smaller issues get lost in the shadow of such a big election. But maybe they think this is the best way to get people to vote on the smaller issues, since they're already there voting for President.

Also, does anyone know why the have elections on Tuesdays? Seems like they'd get a better turn out if they were on Saturdays and the polls were open longer.

Haha! Yeah, I tried telling a McCain supporter that. She almost bought it too... :D

I forgot.... we had one U.S. Senate race....I would put that on the main ballot, too.

Most of the other races, I didn't give two shits about. Family Court judges and JP's I'll never see, etc. Without my list of Union endorsed candidates, it would have been eeny meeny miney moe.

Aren't they expecting like 75-80% this year? And, I get your point about low voter turnout for the other shit but which is better: informed people who vote for the "second tier" stuff or people who vote just because they're there? Just sayin...
