FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AFP) — Republican vice presidential hopeful Sarah Palin sent her son off to fight for a "righteous cause" as his Army unit prepared to deploy to Iraq.

Palin promised the 4,000 troops gathered on a tarmac at Fort Wainwright Thursday that she was honored to be there to see them "go forth in defense of America and America's cause -- and it is a righteous cause."

"You'll be there to defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the deaths of thousands of Americans because America can never go back to that false sense of security before September 11, 2001," she said on the seventh anniversary of the attacks.

Are they still using this?? Fuck!

    Actually folks ...

While there is zero evidence that Al Queda was in Iraq when the war started, they are there now ... so, her comment is valid.

YES, BUT THEY WERE THERE THEN, RIGHT? AS IN, THEY WERE IRAQIS BUT NOT YET MEMBER OF AL QUEDA. SO HER STATEMENT IS BULLSHIT, BUT WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM THE LYING SACK OF SHIT CAMPAIGN THAT IS MCSAME/PANDERIN.

I don't think you helped your cause with this argument at all ... actually, I don't really understand it ...

Are you saying that Iraqis were not memebers of Al Queda when the war started, but, were eventual memebers of Al Queda? I don't get your point.

I just don't think anything said in the speech quoted by the OP is in error.

I can't say that I wouldn't pick up a gun or design an IED if a foreign country invaded the U.S.A. and started killing civilians. Would I be a terrorist if I did? What about a patriot? A.Q. in Iraq seems like a smokescreen to me, especially because of how unimpressive our intelligence has been ever since the leadup to this occupation.

ok, here's what she said, AGAIN:

You'll be there to defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the deaths of thousands of Americans because America can never go back to that false sense of security before September 11, 2001

you said yourself there was no al queda in iraq before the war. al queda did not come into iraq, rather, iraqis themselves became al queda members (were recruited into al queda). at least that's how i understand it. NOBODY FROM IRAQ PLANNED AND CARRIED OUT BLAH BLAH BLAH, K?

actually ... Al Queda, while attacking US forces, is also fighting with the Sunni, Shia and Shiites ... my take is that they are just trying to create chaos and start a full scale civil war ... I don't believe the Iraqis support Al Queda in Iraq ...

Again, if you want to make the arguement that Al Queda never would have been there if we didn't go in to Iraq, that's one arguement ... but for now, my point is that her comment above is valid.

If it weren't, the Obama campaign would have been all over it.

How about manipulating or manufacturing or editing intelligence as a means to the end of invading Iraq? Either way, I don't trust any of it.

I've thought this many times myself. Even without the "killing civilians" part, if a foreign army came to America and started telling us what to do, most of us would resist!

Nah, they're running this campaign like a bunch of pussies . They won't even strongly denounce the lies directed right at them. Nothing about Palin is "valid."

There is no Al Queda in Iraq. What would you do if another country invaded your country and was killing your people?

while the reports of how much damage they are doing can be debated, heavily ... and their size estimated from "significant" to "minimal" ... Al Queda IS in Iraq.

for the record, I do not agree with the war policy at all ... my posts were merely tring to enlighten folks to why her comment cannot be attacked on fact.

I also feel, as I have posted 100 times over the past week, Obama should ignore Palin ... there are way too many problems to be swinging at her ... the media will take care of that.

You would, of course, then be known as an insurgent. You know, defending your country from invasion and occupation.
