What if tonight everything is just all right
no one pulls the trigger
our world is full of light?
What if tomorrow a tender sun shines clear
everyone is just ok
no child falls in fear?
We all begin simply living
embrace the peace of stillness
contemplate our giving.
Does it strike you as naïve?
A deluded childish view?
Or can you just believe?
Can you even ask the question?
Is plastic arrogance just too strong?
Must you teach the world a lesson?
Or can you sing along?
no one pulls the trigger
our world is full of light?
What if tomorrow a tender sun shines clear
everyone is just ok
no child falls in fear?
We all begin simply living
embrace the peace of stillness
contemplate our giving.

Thanks! I'm aware, but considering the consistently political nature of this particular forum, I was unaware where the thought would be most applicable.
Is poetic thought prohibited/ undesired if the subject matter is relevant?
I'll move or delete it if it's out of place.
No need. It will sink fast enough on its own.
ur just a little pumpkin aren't you...
its ok to simply smile occasionally, it doesn't necessarily dilute your intellect.
Thoreau was a fairly intelligent dissenter don't you think? and a big fan of the random simple smile.
It's not always necessary to dissect the complexity of origin to appreciate a concept.
World peace sounds pretty cool in a basic form. The layers of complex social structure and the plastic veneer of engineered political issues only cloud the prospect.
But maybe that is just too naïve a thought?
you're being honest, which a i genuinely appreciate, so I'll be just as honest.
i really think "message boards" are frequently a waste. they tend to be dominated by few angry individuals with no restraint on how many times they post or with what intellect, who respond only to belittle or attempt some form of smart-assed come back.
i love eddie vedder's poetry so much, his thought processes and politics mirror my own so closely, that i decided to give this forum a shot. maybe there would be a truly sharp blade in spectacles among the trolls.
But honestly, i haven't posted strictly for the responses. See, our minds are recorders, whether we choose them to be or not. So, when someone reads something light and encouraging, no matter how dark their daily thoughts may be, they are still taking it into their minds.
maybe as a thought, try not to think of them as "jerks", but as unenlightened and sad.
dreamer in my dream
we got the guns
i love you,but im..............callin out.........callin out
Thanks for the poem.
I think we all would like to believe.
In fact, it usualy is NOT the "people" of the world that cause it to be in disharmony, it is the politicians and the money masters who need war to fuel their bank accounts.
:(
If I opened it now would you not understand?
holy pit police... so what?
freedom of expression... let it live...

i agree.... i luv individuals, but "people" are often frightening in their ability to rationalize attrocities in a hypnotic "mob" mentality.
im hopeful that the internet and the ability of indiduals to vocalize their opinions at equal volume will encourage individual research/ thought and belief development.
if we all thought this way the world would be.........like heaven. wonder if we could ever get a "realist" on board with this way of thinking, behaving. if they could just drop the negativity, maybe..........??
one of my favorite eddie lines:
"change don't come at once
it's a wave
building before it breaks"
it's understandable why you would post it in here. there can still be a debate around this poem.
i would've said something to Indian Summer but maybe he's/she's got bad history with you ( which is suprising as you haven't got many posts for him/her to get angry with you and i don't understand why anyone would waste their time ) so instead i will stand back.
and will only say Welcome to this board
But random acts of kindness and smiling your way through life is, I think, a much better way of going through life than moping and being negative all the time.
naděje umírá poslední
embrace the peace of stillness

Don't know why this verse caught my ear - but it did.
What the heck would we do if there wasn't Iran or Iraq or Massacre at the Nebraska Mall or all the other fear mongering crap the news spews at us 24/7.
It would be nice to stop feeding on this shit and move forward into a space that offered the luxury of embracing and contemplating. (maybe that's where PJ's music and Eddie's lyrics take me and safely let me hide)
Think I might just step back, take a breath and recenter myself.
Thanks for being brave enough to share your thoughts.
I wonder sometimes about being naïve, if that's not what it takes to create genuine change.... Was Dr. King naïve? or Gandhi? or my hero Thoreau?
They saw the vision unobstructed, not because they were not intelligent enough to recognize the obstacles, but because they refused to focus their vision upon the barriers. They became innocent as children with their dreams, ignorant to the "apparent realities" that were inevitable truths to some. They developed a utopian vision of the future, which is really fucking hard sometimes in a world full of mental and physical carnage.
I am dreadfully well informed as to the current political realities, working for one of the largest media companies in the country. But I have to believe, that we can only effect change by embracing the dream, as unrealistic as it may seem... to some.
