What makes a delegate, SUPER?

Why are there two types of Democrat delegates? What's the difference? Does one mean more than the other?

    delegates are supposed to vote the way the primary goes. (the people vote for Mr. X, the delegate is supposed to pledge for that candidate)

    super delegates are people from the party (people on the committee, senators, etc etc) that can pledge either way, changing their minds as many times as they want...

    super delegates were made back in the day to so independents, green party people couldnt mess with the results? or something like that... someone will come along and explain it better than me

    anyway, i hope someone wins by superdelegates. i want to see if anyone still cares enough to do anything about it. This won't happen though. most of them havent officially endorsed anyone, they are just waiting to see who wins. whoever has the most delegates, wins the most superdelegates, i promise you. the dem party wouldnt be stupid enought to allow superdelegates to affect this election.
