i was reading an interview with Carl Rove and in the interview, he stated that Obama really never worked with the Republicans on major issues. i am not stated that i believe Rove but i am wondering if we have proof that he did.

I say this because Obama has state dthat he can work with teh reblicans and i just want to see that he has in the past. does anyone have any articles that show that he has?

In the Illinois Senate Obama had a very strong tradition of working across the aisle. In fact, a Republican State Senator (Kirk Dillard) has appeard in Obama TV spots talking about his bi-partisan approach. In a state as politically partisan as Illinois, it's a big deal to have a member of the opposite party put their neck out and say you were truly bi-partisan.

Thank you but do you have any areas that we can see that showed what Obama worked with in the state? what issues?

He actually worked with John McCain on ethics reform measures that were never adopted, but it was a big newstory for a while in '06 I believe.

I really didnt think he had to. To do so would have been political suicide, tying him to the Bush Administration and the GOP. His time in the US Senate was simply that, time. Everyone should have known watching the '04 DNC convention that he was the appointee to run in '08. Most of his political career has been geared to set him up for this run.

Disclaimer: I still am undecided on who I support in the upcoming election.

One big problem that I think Obama will have in the general election is that he will be portrayed by the Republicans as being extremely left-winged liberal (he was shown to be the #1 most liberal Senator based on his votes).

McCain on the other hand is seen as a moderate conservative (he was shown to be the 51st most liberal senator).

I'm quite interested to see, has Obama worked across the aisle much? I consider myself an independent... and I haven't seen much proof at all that he has. But I'm very open minded to see some.
