Dont wash your car!!!

So apparently, washing your car is going to become illegal in California. Its "unsafe" to the environment. Whats next? Showering? What a great country this is becoming.

    You MAY be overreacting a little. Where does it say washing your car is going to be illegal in CA? It says in front of one's home, and it's only been proposed, not passed.

    "In Fairfax, Calif., fearing similar runoff pollution, officials have proposed a ban on washing cars in front of one's home, with citations and possible imprisonment for violators."

    We continue to treat the symptoms rather than the problem...the runoff from washing your car is only a problem due to the idiots who do city planning allowing everything to become concrete.

    But hey, it the easy thing to do...right?

    What generally happens is that manufacturers will come out with formulas just for California. There are plenty of biodegradable soaps already on the market, and I'll bet they have more of a problem with illegal dumping of grease in thier water supplies.

    We haven't been able to wash our cars or water lawns or anything for almost 2 years now in Georgia due to the drought except of course professional car washes.

    I generally use a waterless wash that is similar to Quick Detailer that works pretty effectively.


    Californians simply love to run to the government for every little thing and they need revenue. Hell as little as it rains out there in most cases all you need is a duster anyway.

    I'd say this is more about generating revenue than anything else. You can't earn any money essentially as a government so as budgets get stretched... they need new sources of revenue to continue to keep buying the same votes that got them elected. It's a never ending process really.
    My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

    The soap is not the main problem.....oil, transmission fluid, anti-freeze, etc. that gets washed off of the car and introduced into the storm drains is the biggest problem. That's why the rule mentioned in front of the house....on the street over the storm drains, which introduce these chemicals into local waterways.

    this is off topic, but is it a bad sign when my car smells like gasoline when i drive it? i think its about to explode.
