Illinois Govenor Rod Blageojevich Arrested In Obama Successor Probe
CHICAGO — Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich was arrested Tuesday on charges of conspiring to get financial benefits through his authority to appoint a U.S. senator to fill the vacancy left by Barack Obama's election as president.

According to a federal criminal complaint, Blagojevich also was charged with illegally threatening to withhold state assistance to Tribune Co., the owner of the Chicago Tribune, in the sale of Wrigley Field. In return for state assistance, Blagojevich allegedly wanted members of the paper's editorial board who had been critical of him fired.

    A 76-page FBI affidavit said the 51-year-old Democratic governor was intercepted on court-authorized wiretaps over the last month conspiring to sell or trade the vacant Senate seat for personal benefits for himself and his wife, Patti.

    Our last governor, George Ryan was a Republican and he is in jail right now scrubbing floors with a toothbrush.

    I don't consider myself a democrat or a republican, but that statement is stupid.

    Wow, this was a long time coming. Most Illinois people of both parties hate this guy. My dad, who's a die-hard Democrat, hates this guy.
    It'll be interesting to see where we go from here. We still need a senator to take Obama's place!

    This governor was tied to the mob, it was fairly public, and Illinois still voted for him. I'm sure the mob has done its share of killing.

    I was saying with him being a Democrat corruption persists and FN will play it up and rightfully so. Corrupt is corrupt and if you think that's stupid to say then go on with your bad self.

    They are few IF any politicians out that I trust, ALL of them have there hands under the table looking for a hand out or for whatever upward mobility they can grab and that includes our President-Elect. He's better than most but still.....

    That was the point I was trying to make. If Blago got arrested before the election we would all be saying McCain please save us instead of Obama.
