I was just thinking where did this guy come from for a chance to become President of USA?

I first heard of him with this song....Lookin' For A Leader by Neil Young from the album *Living With War*

In the line where he speaks of Obama I thought he was talking about Osama. Anyway he MAYBE a name now this nation may never forget any time soon.

i think win or lose his name will never be forgotten. even with a loss, he'll be around politics for quite a while.

oh, and i guess the first time i heard of him was when he was running for senate.

I figured around that time that Kerry was gonna lose and Obama would run and win in 2008.

I'll check youtube to hear that speech just to see where he came from and what has led to what he has become President-Elect of USA.

I'll save you the trouble ...

EDIT - found it all in one video ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWynt87PaJ0&feature=related

I remember talking to a buddy of mine from back east the next day ... he swore to me that if Kerry lost, Obama WOULD be the next President of the U.S. ... while impressed and very moved by his speech, I was pretty skeptical ... I owe him a beer on a lost bet, and I'll HAPPILY pay up on that.

Remember, Obama hadn't even won his Senate seat when he was invited to give this speech.

Oh yeah ... this all started ... in BOSTON. :D

  • I was living in Chicago a few years ago and I saw a campaign sign for his Senate campaign. I was like "wow, that's an unfortunate name. He'll never get elected." LOL :D

But, it was his unusual and memorable name that prompted me to find out who he was.

Later when he was in the Senate I heard his full name and I couldn't believe it. I remember saying how did he ever get elected to the Senate with a name like that in times like this?

I've known of Obama for quite a while. He was on the news quite a bit here in Chicago.

I voted for Barack in 2004 against that ass clown Jack Ryan and Alan Keyes.

Plus I used to play pickup b-ball with him and Bill Ayers.

    Just kidding :)

  • I remember his speech at the DNC in '04 and I was blown away. Then about two weeks later I saw him on Mtv talking to Andre 3000 in a more laid back down to earth tone and I tried to imagine any other politician speaking to Andre 3000 and just imagining how stiff and awkward it would be. It was really at that point that I thought he would be good because he would be able to appeal to many classes.

You had low standards even 4 years ago? ;)

FYI - comment meant more in reference to Biden.

Personally, I think someone being akward talking to Andre 3000 is not a bad thing at all. ;)

I'm just saying it was kind of new to see someone that could address the elders in a more professional tone, while being able to talk to the youth without sounding like Robocop. (Well, I guess B. Clinton could kind of do that.)

On Oprah of course. When she introduced him to the world, and like with her books of the month, planted the seeds for world domination in the public mindset...
