What's up every morning on my way to work the price drops. Like this morning REG...$3.10 on my way home $3.05 within the day the price drops 4-5 cents a gallon.
I milked it on E for as long as I could, filled up my truck with 23.86 gallons at $3.05 a gal.....$73.00
This due to the election or what else could it be?
Peace
it's been under $3 a gallon for awhile here now. i am unsure just how long b/c if we fill up once a month, it's a lot...since we basically rely on public transport M-F. i think it's about $2.65 now...altho not 100% on that figure.
Some at $1.69 here just south of Fort Worth, Tx.....of course by now it is tough to afford even that. Still glad we got the Kia, now we only drive the pickup about 25 miles a week. At 10k miles, very very happy with the Kia-getting about 38 mpg..hope it goes up a bit more with synthetic oil, and some hypermiling .
as cheap as that is, check this out: got home from the in-laws sunday morning (thanksgiving weekend) and had to fill the rental car up with gas before returning it. also had to fill my own car up with gas. went to sunoco and got the following: 19.5 gallons of gas, a sunday paper, and 2 packs of gum. total spent: sixteen dollars and some change. here's the kicker: we shop at price chopper and get 10 cents off each gallon of gas everytime we spend $50 for groceries. we saved the discounts up and when we used them sunday, we had $1.40 off every gallon of gas we bought, up to 20 gallons. sunoco price for a gallon of gas was $1.99, so we ended up paying 59 cents a gallon. i almost popped a boner when she told me the total.

That's how it should be, you might be the only person in America getting gas that time at that price. Outstanding, Way to make that discount work for you. I think that's how the consumer should be able to work the system. It would nice if they had a setup like that around here. Filled up 3 days ago $1.69

Oil to stay at $50 for next year to year and a half.
Arab world to go in to bankruptcy, after their plan to keep oil at $80 a barrel fails.
Arab world can NOT handle $50 a barrel oil due to government money committed on assumption of oil in the $100 range.
"Enjoy gas prices while you can. Live it up."
America to "Pay The Piper" at that time (Arab economic collapse).
Lindsay did NOT go over the US Treasury security market fall out like he did the first time. He just kept saying that we will "pay the piper" in a year or two.
His original premise, told to him by an ex-Atlantic Richfield executive (where ALL of this info comes from), was that the collapse of oil prices, and subsequent collapse of the Arab economies, would lead to a massive sell off of US Treasuries by the arab nations. This massive forced sale of US Treasuries to cover Arab budget shortfalls would put downward pressure on the Treasuries market, suppressing treasury prices, and raising interest rates.
That rise in interest rates, combined with the already predicted deflationary concerns, could lead to an outright horrible deflationary spiral, with rising interest rates putting further downward pressure on housing markets.
Of course, i'm sure the guy is a kook!
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?
I remember in July, OPEC was saying that they have no control over the price of oil and that it all lies in the hands of supply and demand.
Now, OPEC is announcing plans to severely cut production Dec. 17th to create a false shortage to increase prices. They hope this implementation will increase oil to a "fair" price of $70 bucks a barrel.
Gas went from like $55+ to fill my tank to less than $25... I guess we don't have to worry about alternative energy anymore

Filled up today $1.57 at Sam's club and it stopped at $30.00 exactly. That's for 19+ gallons, I'll wet myself if it EVER gets to $1 a gallon for reg. I'm serious.

Something tells me the govt will step in to keep prices up or states will increase the gas tax. I live in MA and they are already talking about raising the gas tax which is now 24 cents to 35 cents to offset toll prices. But I'm with you, maybe Obama will keep prices low like Clinton did. I remember when I got my license in 98, I paid 86 cents a gallon. Keep your fingers crossed.
$1.69 in Los Angeles. For California, that is incredible. I don't remember prices that cheap since before the turn of the millennium. But I think we can expect prices to go back up big in a few months. :(

I'm sure they'll go up again, but maybe not so soon.. The may get as low as $1 a gallon from what I've heard.
Lets all keep in mind the price at the pump is deceiving. While you think you are paying under two dollars a gallon, it's actually about four times that amount when you factor in how much of your tax money is going overseas and will never come back. While the dollar gets lower and lower it's understandable why out government would deceive us on a couple of points. One point would be making the general public believe that American economics theories of supply and demand actually determine what you pay at the pump and another would be that a foreign occupation for peace in the middle east is succeeding.
So what we have now is the world showing us the bomb from all angles. How it got here, how we are responsible for it and how we are addicted to its presence. The prices go up along with the citizens attention span. They tell you what the timer is set on and fill you with information needed to defuse the bomb. They set the bomb and drop the prices.
The attention span drops with the lowering prices for a gallon of gasoline.

unsurprising really.
quite honestly, i cannot tell you what i last paid for gas...mostly b/c i don't pay much attention as i fill up so infrequently, maybe once a month? :? as both my husband and i use public transport for work....just really haven't been watching. however, as of the 20th he WILL be commuting by car again, and a good distance, plus fucking tolls    ...so yea.....just in time for raising prices.... typical.
honestly, prices DO typically rise during the summer months, no matter what else is going on the world. and hell, ever other fucking cost has risen so much in the past year....it's insane.
I'm glad the Democrats aren't letting the oil companies gouge us like the Neo-Cons did....
