Reversing Diabetes: 30 Days Of RAW a 9 minute video on an idea on curing/reversing diabetes.

Question: Do you think there's some truth to this now leading health hazard in the US, especially in our youth?

for type 2 diabetes this definitely works...there's research out there that shows diet and exercise can begin to increase insulin sensitivity (as long as the body is still producing it's own insulin) and decrease the reliance on diabetes sensitivity medications, in essence reversing type 2 diabetes to a degree. The management strategy for T2D is diet and exercise; which is the same management strategy for type 1 (1 has the addition of insulin therapy in order to process carbs since the body doesn't make insulin anymore). The American diabetes association has tended to take the view that people aren't going to change their lifestyle (type 2 is mostly a lifestyle etiology...poor diet and little to no exercise) so they might as well take pills.

A raw diet is something I am currently researching for my Rottweiler. It is also supposed to help with the numerous health problems that pets face due to their diet of commercial grade pet foods. Most people don't know that the dog food they buy at places like PetSmart is loaded with nothing but fillers and chemicals. Many people think a brand called Science Diet is actually healthy for their pets, but on one message board I visit for my dog it is commonly referred to as Slow Death.

I'm going to look into this diet for humans, but I've been under the impression that the food would sit too long in the body and therefore pose an increased risk of some type of bacteria sickness. A dog will pass the food at the most eight hours after ingestion, a human takes much longer. Biology wasn't one of my favorite subjects though.

diet and exercise absolutely HELP....but thus far, does not CURE. my father was a type 2 diabetic, and when first diagnosed, obese. once he got his diagnosis, he began on imporving his diet and exercise, and did so for the rest of his life....and never had to take insulin shots. however, yes, he still needed maintanence pills his entire life.

i think like MANY things, what we put in our body and how much we keep it active, has repercussions for general health and disease prevention. whether diet can actually CURE disease.....remains to be seen.

you're absolutely right; the hard thing is to convince people to change their diet and lifestyle BEFORE those health problems arise. It's like most things, we don't worry about it until it's too late...then we try to correct it rather than trying our best to avoid the circumstance (disease / disaster / problem) in the beginning.

    absolutely!
i think we all are 'guilty' of that mentality at one point or another - untouchable, it won't happen to me. most especially when we are young and look/feel like nothing can harm us...and we set up bad habits b/c at the time, no ill effects, or so it seems.

as i get older, i DO try to do as i 'should'...and want to take care of me to live a good, long, healthy and fun life. with a father who was diabetic, and it ran in our family in any case...and now a sister who is a breast cancer survivor....and me flirting with 40, 3 more months! you KNOW it's on my mind, and i am working on my mindset, and overall health...nutrition/exercise....for LIFE.

A raw diet is worth a try. I think a good vegetarian diet would help as well.
