Bush Restricts Travel Rights of More Than 100,000

The freedom to travel of more than 100,000 Americans placed on “watch” and “no fly” lists is being restricted by the Bush-Cheney regime.

Citizens who have done no more than criticize the president are being banned from airline flights, harassed at airports’, strip searched, roughed up and even imprisoned, feminist author and political activist Naomi Wolf reports in her new book, “The End of America.”

Have you experienced this kind of searches in your travels? On one occasion on my way to Jamaica with my daughter I was searched 4 different times at 4 different sections at the Miami International.

Is about security or intimidation/scare tactics?

The U.S is looking more and more like 1930's Germany.

'Author Wolf notes that dictatorships from Hitler’s Germany to Pinochet’s Chile have employed arbitrary arrests to harass critics. And Bush’s airport detention policies are more of the same. As Wolf writes, “being free means that you can’t be detained arbitrarily.” '

No Shit! One odd thing though when I now travel through work, I travel on a privately owned jet owned by my boss. In all the times we've traveled not once have we gone through metal detectors or seen dogs or even security. We drive up to the plane ourselves and get on. That's it!

This country is becoming a country of the have and the have nots.

People interested in how the mechanisms of facist countries operate should read 'The Diaries of Victor Klemperer'. They show the day to day life of a Jewish man living in Germany at the onset of Nazism, and the slow, but gradual, eroding away of their basic rights. Stalins methods were similar to Hitlers, although he professed to be doing it for the good of the nation as a whole. People get suckered into believing that these restrictions and infringements upon civil liberty are for the good of the nation, and so allow themselves to become complicit in the crimes of their Government. People need to wake up now, rather then later.

We just flew up to NYC on the jet and I stand corrected in that in major cities like NY and Washington DC we can't drive up to the plane but everything was just the same.

If I could ever afford it this is certainly the way to travel. I was just wondering if I or someone else was on that terriost watch list, does that preclude me from flying privately?
