Will the A-Bomb be used again?

Do you think the A-Bomb/Nuclear weapons will be used on a nation again? HBO has a documentary called White Light/Black Rain:The Destruction Of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.Unfortunately, I believe it will happen to another people in the world and that aggressive nation will suffer the consequences of their actions.

I think a nuclear device will be used but not by a nation-state. In my opinion it's far more likely for some sort of terrorist type group to use one.

  • No but I bet the H bomb will be used.

Love the use of the term, "nation-state." I foresee a world divided into nation-state and non-nation/states. It appears that some cultures are no longer recognizing the need of the nation-state.

As to nuclear weapons, yes, in some form they will be used in the future...probably by someone or in some manner that we least expect.

I would imagine the people who use it will be the people who have already used it.
Keep on rockin in the free world!!!!

The economy has polarized to the point where the wealthiest 10% now own 85% of the nation’s wealth. Never before have the bottom 90% been so highly indebted, so dependent on the wealthy.
  • Yes, they will be used again. Especially since there is talk of mini-nuclear bombs. Being developed by the U.S. I think. I think they'll be used b/c you longer have to wipe out 200,000 people at once. Now you can just kill 5000 or 10,000 at a time. Its so civilized !

I'm actually betting that someone who is not in that club, who besides the U.S. isn't, will want to step up and be a big boy. (tongue in cheek following last comma)

Tritium is the active substance used in FGNs (Fourth-Generation Nukes) as developed by the United States. It would be difficult for the untrained to identify the use of an FGN due to their low yield and blast control. The blast is easily controlled using shaped-charges. For all any of us know, the WTC towers could have been sufficiently damaged by an FGN, large quantities of tritium were reported by the EPA.

I would say it's entirely likely that FGNs are in use as we speak.

H-Bombs and A-Bombs make too much noise to be used.

I don't think there is a thing that you could call a nuclear war...war is a process and it lasts...nuclear war can't last...If it happens it's a matter of seconds...

Under the Cold War rules.....yes, nuclear war would last mere minutes. However on today's chess board, one could have a nuclear war between two countries with limited delivery abilities that might drag on for days or weeks.

I agree. Since when does the military inform the public about it's weapons programs?

People think well this is what conventional weapons would do and are capable of...

They could have put an FGN every X number of floors and set them off wirelessly in a sequence in a few hours with only a few people. Honestly who the fuck knows. They're all probably dead now anyway.

but anyhow whatever...let's get on with bombing Iran.

Maybe the A-bomb should be renamed to DA-bomb

That documentary is on at the moment and man it's tough to watch. Then to think the Japanese were duped into WWII and made to look like the aggressors to make sure the country was totally the war machine. 70,000 and 140,000 and the Pandora's box has been opened for all to see.

    Some comic relief.

    This is the epa website
    http://www.epa.gov/radiation/news/index.html

It's supposed to be news about radiation leaks and stuff. But all the good links from the last few days like:

    IAEA team arrive in Japan
(World Nuclear News) Radioactive material escaped the plant, an external electrical transformer caught fire and many barrels of solid radioactive waste were knocked ove

GAO: Prospects 'unclear' for quality of Yucca Mountain license
(Jackson Hole Star-Tribune, Associated Press) Yucca Mountain is being planned to hold 77000 tons or more of highly radioactive nuclear waste for 10000 years and beyond.

    Japan Remembers Hiroshima
(NY Times, Reuters) World War Two, promised to review the government's tough standards for determining whether atomic bomb victims suffer from radiation disease, the subject of a series of lawsuits by victims. The atomic bomb had killed some 140,000 people

    Don't work. I hate that.

The Bombing of Nagasaki August 9, 1945: The Untold Story

    By Gary G. Kohls

62 years ago, on August 9th, 1945, the second of the only two atomic bombs (a plutonium bomb) ever used as instruments of aggressive war (against essentially defenseless civilian populations) was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan, by an all-Christian bomb crew. The well-trained American soldiers were only "doing their job," and they did it efficiently.
