The republican sheep don't show up when it's McCain on his own ... I wonder if he'll try and get her a seat next to him at the debate ... it's the only thing people seem to like about his campaign.

McCain finds it tough without Palin
PHILADELPHIA - Republican presidential candidate John McCain cut short his first public appearance without running-mate Sarah Palin after chanting supporters of Democratic rival Barack Obama interrupted his speech.
After lunching with a roundtable of women at Philadelphia’s Down Home Diner, McCain shook hands with supporters and strode up to a podium to deliver a statement. But as he spoke, chants of “Obama, Obama, Obama” filled the room.
Reporters craned forward trying to hear the Arizona senator. Unfortunately for McCain — and possibly overlooked by aides who planned the event — a section of the diner opened up to a market where a crowd had gathered behind a cordon.
A large contingent of Obama supporters showed up, mixed with some who had bumper stickers reading “Democrats for McCain”.
“It’s time to leave the talk behind and start shaking up Washington and fixing our economy, taking care of the problems facing our families. We’re going to give a tax cut to every family with a child,” he said.
His words were barely audible.
McCain’s supporters shouted “John McCain”, “John McCain,” “John McCain”. The duelling chants nearly drowned out the presidential hopeful’s voice.
“Pennsylvania is a battleground state as we can tell,” McCain said.
Meanwhile Palin, the Alaska governor, was on a flight back to her state.

I know that the excitement about her will fade, but the attention on her will still overshadow the attention on McCain. I don't know of any other presidential race where the VP on a ticket has gotten this much more attention than the guy at the top of the ticket.
was like a picture

i don't understand it
again, this country loves Dancing with the Stars, every reality show under the sun, embraces actresses that have sex videos pop up ... it's TMZ nation.
McCain bashed Obama for being a celebrity ... and now, he's running with one ... even the Enquirer calls her a "celebrity" ... ha ha ha ...

she scares the shite out of me
vice presidential candidates: they're just like us!
oh crap i meant to quote the 'why is she so popular' post. sorry.

I hear you. I don't know why a former mayor of a small town and a two year governor of Alaska gets so much attention.
On a sidenote, the abstinence only sex education she harps on really works. Her 17 year old daughter is knocked up (I guess that's okay, because her daughter is going to marry the baby's father - yeah right) and she was knocked up before she was married. Talk about a hypocrite.
it's really nice that her daughter had *choice* in how to handle the pregnancy.

"We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents," - Sarah Palin
yes ... a DECISION ... because your daughter had a CHOICE!
Something Palin would like to take away from every other person in Bristol's situation going forward.
mmm, hypocrisy.

why doesn't sara palin stay out of MY private life and let me have a 'choice'
because only sarah palin knows whats good for you and wants the government to enforce it.

The "sheep" as you call them, didn't show up, because the "sheep" weren't invited. It was a roundtable with only a handful of people at a Philadelphia diner.
The problem here was the McCain camp did a terrible job of casing the joint beforehand, meaning people walking by off the street could show up and cause a ruckus ... which is exactly what happened.
Had this been a standard rally held at a standard venue, all would have been fine.
for the least they could possibly do
This probably isn't the thread to re-ignite the abortion debate ... but:
If you believe life begins in the womb, then abortion is murder. I can see how one would be morally obligated to oppose murder.
I can see both sides of the debate. Everybody has a point.
Another I would make is that the vice president's views on abortion have little to no bearing on anything at all.

good one
She doesn't harp on abstinence-only education. That's a popular left talking point, but it's untrue.
Also, I don't see how anything her daughter did makes Palin a hypocrite. I'd hate for my parents to be judged for every stupid thing I did.
