Is it just me...
but ever since Palin was announced as VP- the newspapers have pitted the race for the White house as Palin v.s. Obama.
I know that she is the "new kid on the block", but the newspapers have be just flooded about Palin this and Palin that- and it seems like McCain has taken a bit of a back seat and is just watching the show.

Granted, he came out of his shell for his big speech (what a big production), but in the papers today (NYC any way), he had a few pages, and then Palin in the face.

Yes she maybe next in line for President- but this race is about Obama and McCain- one of these guys will be president.

At this point, the media is hurting the race more than the contenders. I don't want to see fluff pieces. And there has been a lot of fluff over this past week.

I'm ready for some substance. I'm ready for the debates...

but without the commentary from the newscasters, and politicos.

  • It will all pass as soon as she has to say something that isn't scripted already for her.

Since she came onto the scene this is all I hear is them comparing her to Obama. I don't think that they understand that she is not for President. Why can't they compare her to Biden, whats so hard about that? Maybe it will calm down in the next few weeks.
Thats a lovely accent you have. New Jersey?

yeah because everything that Obama says he writes, give me a break, get the speech writers away from him and all you hear is a lot of mumbling

    I hope so.

If feels like McCain is priming her, like he's ready to die and is pushing her at us to get her mainstream.

If McCain was 48 years old, they probably wouldn't hit it so hard. You know, she is a heartbeat away from the Presidency etc... I think it is a legit concern but currently being overplayed. I think it will calm down once the debates start.

I can see that point, but did you notice last night when he introduced his mother... she is 96 years young and she jumped out of her seat. That was a jab at everyone saying hes gonna kick the bucket. He may live to be 100 for all we know.

McCain has no agenda and Palin selection was for one purpose and one purpose only. The RNC's strategy is to have the public view this as a black man vs a white woman. It's RNC's strategy to be able to say see this what a black man thinks about a white woman, this is what we have to protect our children from, this is what we have to protect our country from.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.

yes he may have his moms genes, and yes he may live to be 100- but in life there is no guarantee- with anyone.

but you can see the push that his camp is doing with a younger, vibrant, "maverick" -

as someone else mentioned on the board- this is now a popularity contest and the issues are not as important.

I want the issues in the forefront. We, in this country, are at the edge of the cliff. Either we come away from the edge or we fall off. I don't want to fall off. But who will take us away from the brink?

I NEED to hear what they have to say- and the newspapers/broadcasts are just not doing it for me.

Obama writes his own speeches. At least most of the content.
