I know there's no official endorsement by the band, but Matt Cameron helped with the Obama song and I assume Eddie's for Nader, though I don't think he's come out and said yet for this 08 election... anybody know where the other guys stand? Just wondering...

    Honestly i can't remember.
There was something on here the other day, concerning the secret Eddie shows in Seattle or something. I don't remember what it was, but it wasn't really up for interpretation. I think maybe someone posted that Eddie was wearing an "obama" pin or something.

    Sorry man.
    My memory is bunk.

Hopefully someone else here can recollect it for you.
I just know my neurons have made the connection. Eddie likes Obama.

And for me, that is not exactly a happy thought.

The poster from the secret show shows Ed wearing an Obama button. But maybe it is just Brad Klausen that wants Ed to be an Obama supporter. The rest of the band is definitely on board with Obama since they recorded that god awful song for Super Tuesday. Ed stayed out of that, and hasn't to my knowledge publicly said anything about supporting any candidate this time around. He's probably just as disillusioned as some of us are.

I always figured the artist would need to approve the merchandise, posters included. I doubt that Obama pin was on the poster without Ed's knowledge.

I'm disappointed, but whatever - I know I'll be wearing my Nader shirt to the Vancouver show.

yeah, not being a part of that song seems a pretty good indication, while it may be possible, look at the sad display of susan sarandon when she called nader 'your guy' to bill maher when she was right there w/ him in 2000 and the way him and michael moore begged him not to offer his voice in the 04 election...i mean, in the bonus features of Fahrenheit 911 he called the dems the sorriest excuse for a political party...and then there he is on his knees begging nader to stay out....shameful in my eyes, especially if he is an obama supporter given sicko...

according to opensecrets.org the only members to give money to obama are matt cameron giving $500 and stone giving $3,800...eddie, jeff and mike so far haven't donated to anyone....shit i didn't look up boom ;)

how behind someone can they be if they do little to nothing in show of support? i could be wrong, i think for the others it may be a lesser of 2 evils thing like w/ kerry
    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

I hope the american people will make the better choice. I hope the people vote. I´m not american and avoid this theme here. But, when I think about the impact of the result of this election in the game of world-wide chess I wish Obama win.
  • i forgot - i need to wait until my favorite band decides who to support for president before i can officially place my backing behind that candidate...

i remember when i starting supporting Nader in 2000 and found out about a month later that Eddie was also supporting him... i have to say i was happy to be on the same political page as him. it wasn't exactly a surprise... it just made sense that someone who's music i connected with so deeply would have the same mindset as me. so it was just a cool thing. but if he had been a Gore supporter, i would have the appreciated the value of that. it was an easy decision for me when i voted for Nader being that i live in Massachusetts, where Bush had no chance. but i think i would have voted for Gore if I had lived in Florida in 2000, and when the media first reported that Gore had won Flordia, i actually shouted "YES!" and put my fist in the air, which surprised my sister ("huh? i thought you didn't want him to win"), and even myself. voting for the lesser evil, is still less evil, which is certainly better than more evil.

so anyway, of the three candidates who (without some unforseen and unlikely chain of events that lead to a formidable challenger) stand a chance at becoming President, I would prefer Obama... easily.

i am not against Nader, but i am 9700300710% convinced he will NEVER be elected President and i think he should realize that.... and maybe he does. but if he's running to make a point about our democratic systems, or to raise issues... i don't think campaigning for president is the way to do that, at least not for him in 2008.

The presidential race is an appropriate avenue to take to raise issues, with the idea that the other candidates will be forced to talk about issues they are currently avoiding.
People don't realize that Ralph Nader has been working between election cycles on various consumer rights violations and against a corporate duopoly, he just doesn't get any press for it. It's not like he comes out of a hole every four years to run.
This sorry excuse of a presidential race needs Ralph Nader in every way. It's too bad the guys in PJ fail to see that (apparently).

Moveon.org has a contest where you make a 30-second Obama commercial.

Ed is one of the judges.

It's ok, don't stress. Don't be too hard on them. Surprisingly enough, they're not the only people on the planet that don't agree with you.

Nobody is perfect. I wish celebrities would stay out of politics. I think it is fine to have a cause, but please don't tell me who to vote for, especially someone like Obama.

Thank you!!! People act like Nader just pops up every 4 years to run for president and that's it because it's not plastered all over the mainstream media. That mindset drives me up a wall and at the same time really helps me to understand where some of these Obama supporters get most of their info from.

Nader is not even mentioned in Australia. I often watch the Australian news online, and there was a report of the Australian Prime Minister (Rudd), visiting the US and meeting with Obama, McCain and Clinton. They explained he was looking to cement Australia's relationship with the next President of the United States. No mention of Nader. It's quite possible that some Australians don't even know who Nader is.
