Dumbass Anti-Obama Chain Emails

I've been the happy recipient of two retarded emails from "well-meaning" folks who just want to warn me about Obama or the DANGERS of showing my support for Obama. They're fucking HYSTERICAL, especially today's:
"Subject: Warning about Newark (insert any major urban/predominantly black area here)
THIS NOT A JOKE OR CHAIN EMAIL.
Newark, New Jersey
ALL RESIDENTS AND VISITORS PLEASE BE AWARE THAT NOVEMBER IS "BLOOD"
MONTH..WHICH MEANS RANDOM KILLINGS AND VIOLENCE WILL BE GOING ON IN AND
AROUND THE CITY OF NEWARK AS PART OF THE BLODD GANG INITIATION.
PEOPLE ARE BEING ADVISED NOT TO WEAR OR ADVERTISE ANY OBAMA PRESIDENTIAL
CAMPAIGN PROPAGANDA ON THEIR CARS OR HOUSES. YOU COULD BE A TARGET FOR
A SENSELESS CRIME. THE COLORS RED AND BLUE THAT APPEAR IN THE OBAMA
CAMPAIGN POSTERS, TEE SHIRTS, STICKERS AND LAWN SIGNS ARE GOING TO BE
TARGETS FOR THE GANGS.
THIS IS RIDICULOUS BUT TRUE. LETS NOT FORGET WHAT JUST HAPPENED OVER THE
WEEKEND. AND THESE KIDS WAS CAUGHT SHOPPING AT JERSEY GARDEN MALL!!!!
THEY WENT ON A SHOOTING SPREE FRIDAY AFTERNOON KILLING AND WOUNDING
INNOCENT PEOPLE AND THEN HAD THE NERVE TO GO SHOPPING AFTER THAT AT THE
MALL!!
PLEASE BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!"
here's what i sent back:
"sorry, i'm not buying it. this email doesn't make sense. wouldn't that apply to ANYTHING in red, white, or blue? how about the american flag?? this sounds like another of those mccain supporter's anti-obama smear chain emails. i think they just don't want people to show their support for obama. i wouldn't put it past them. in fact, as someone who actually WORKS in newark, i think showing support for obama here would be a good way to protect yourself from violence, not provoke it!
by the way, mccain/palin bumper stickers have red & blue in them, too.
lame."
and:
"i work here, and this is just a scare tactic from the desperate right. "ooh, be very afraid of the black man! ooga booga!" gimme a break. think about it- why would it ONLY be obama-biden stuff that's targeted? and why would it be in newark of all places? that's just dumb.
you need to see this thing for what it is, which is propaganda silliness. vote for who you want to vote for, and may the best man win."
the previous email i got was the one that supposedly quotes him from Dreams From My Father as saying something to the effect that he harbors resentment towards his mother's race. that line's not even in the book!
it's obvious that mccain supporters are feeling more and more desperate, and they are getting more and more lame in their attempts to scare people away from obama as time goes on. and it's working on some people because they don't want to take the time or spend the energy THINKING about what they're being told.
i guess courting the DUMBASS VOTE is what mccain's folks are all about. just what we need, four more years of morons running things.

very nice use of "ooga booga" ...

yep, i did "reply to all" and they're not happy about it.
and i thought the ol' ooga booga would work well considering halloween is just 2 days away.

However as to Newark and the Bloods. It does have a point. I know you work in Newark, but where? I worked in Newark on the streets in a lot of neighbor hoods and I can tell you that the Bloods have a very large presence. I was robbed twice and shot at once(well not direct fire but there was gun fire where I was). I was a service tech for the phone company at the time and I used to see it all from dog fights to drug deals to hookers(taking johns in an alley).. you name it I probably saw it.
Also, as to the shooting at the Jersey Garden Mall, its true. Here is the article from the Ledger - http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2008/10/2_arrested_in_connection_with.html
I do remember a similar warning coming out in the summer of 2004 in Newark about the Bloods. This could be the same warning but modified to fit a Political need. As someone who’s family(some still live there) is from Newark and who used to work there I can tell you its pretty rough in some neighborhoods and you really need to watch your back.

dude, you're missing the POINT: why would ONLY obama stuff get you killed? that's what the original email claims. can you NOT see through this?
i realize you started this out saying it was 99% BS, but that figure is really 100% in this case.
if it said ALL red & blue stuff could get you popped, that would at least give it SOME credibility, but it doesn't.

I was born, raised and lived in Newark for the first 23 years of my life and lived there for about a year recently. There is no such thing as Bloods month.
I agree with you and I wasn't missing the point. I should have said it was 100% crap but I like to leave 1% open just incase. Hey you never know.

What neighborhood? We may know some of the same people. I doubt it, but maybe.

Ironbound.
It says Obama stuff because Obama's stuff is the only stuff that has red, white, and blue. The majority of McCain stuff doesn't have those colors. I haven't heard of this particular "method" of initiation, but it's quite possible that it's true.
I think it was really dumb of you to reply in the way you did. There's really no way to know for sure that this is false.

LOL! Wut?
You don't seriously believe that crap do you? Growing up in Denver in the 80's we heard this exact same crap as we had an influx of gangs coming in from LA. I remember going on a field trip into Denver and they wouldn't let us wear red or blue because they said we would be the targets of gang violence. Of course it was all just paranoia. Same with flashing brights. This shit is old urban legend stuff. LOL
Is this crap just now reaching the east coast? Ha, ha. Nice to see it picked up a political twist along the way.

Me too, Dad grew up on Vincent St and my mom was on Brill I think. She worked at Angelos Pharmacy(I think thats the name) growning up. Some of my cousins still live there but not sure what streets. Gram left Vincent St in 2003 only after we made her(she had cancer) and brought her down to us in Belmar.

that warning was in Aug, I just looked it up. It was actually targeted towards cops.

the link to the Star Ledger isn't good anymore, but they are the ones who ran it first.

Any connection between your reality and mine, is purely coincidental.
Having quite a few republican friends I see the most incredible anti-obama emails. This one is just ridiculous. I used to work in Newark too, years ago, and it still has a large black population. I agree, wearing an Obama pin in Newark will probably keep you safer.
Glad to see gangs have their own months now. It was getting pretty boring just having breast cancer awareness month and African American February. LOL!

Don't forget, October is also Domestic Violence month.

Nice. I grew up on Delancy St. Did you go to elementary school in Newark?
perhaps, but I know a guy who works with a girl whose uncle met a girl while online to vote for Kerry in 04. They struck up a conversation, went back to her "place", and next thing he knew he woke up in a bathtub full of ice minus one kidney. 'true story........
ok, i'll forgive you.

I still get e-mails from people who believe microsoft or whatever company will give them a million dollars if they send that mail to 44 people. It's always the same people too. The last time I sent a mail back to ask if I could borrow some money. I told him I didn't believe in the e-mails and never forwarded them, but I was in trouble and I really needed the money, not much, you know 10,000 or so... which should be nothing for a guy who has repeatedly received millions of dollars from all kinds of corporations.
