"When I Came Home is a documentary film about homeless veterans in America: from those who served in Vietnam to those returning from the current war in Iraq. The film looks at the challenges faced by returning combat veterans and the battle many must fight to receive their benefits from the Veterans Administration.

Through the story of Herold Noel, a homeless Iraq war veteran suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and living out of his car in Brooklyn, the film reveals a failing system and the veteran’s struggle to survive after returning from the war. When I Came Home follows Herold’s battle with homelessness and PTSD as he tries to get help from the VA, city agencies, and various veterans organizations.

With temperatures dropping in New York, Herold meets fellow vet Paul Rieckhoff, founder of the country’s largest Iraq veteran advocacy organization. What follows is a media blitz that transforms the young, homeless veteran into the leader of a new movement."

my mother worked at a local breakfast mission and homeless shelter...

a large % of the homeless men she dealt with were veterans

support the troops... a bunch of hot air big talk america... back it up

It's things like this that make it clear the U.S govenrment doesn't give a fuck about those making the sacrifices in this war.
People have learnend nothing since Vietnam. They didn't give a fuck about the troops then, and they don't give a fuck about the troops now.

they do. i guess that's because they are still in the military. i wonder if they will still feel the same when they are out, if they don't get the support they need.

It's not funny at all. Those in the highest ranks will more than likely be looked after. But it's plain to see that the average G.I will more than likely either commit suicide or end up in jail, or on the streets.

this is why, if this *&%$#@ war is still going on (or if a NEW war is happening) when my 12 yr old son is of age, i'm shipping his ass down to the D.R. to live with his father's relatives. screw that. they're not getting MY kid.
