so, you're all really interested in debating christian rock music vs. "secular" rock music, but no one gives a shit that these same assholes put dubya in the white hiuse- TWICE- and are going to be out voting in full force again this time?
just checking to see we're staying on topic! good job.

Am i the only one who thinks that 'Christian Rock' has to be the worst music of all time? Even worse than former Soviet Union Hair Metal bands of the 80s or Boy Bands of the 90s.
Why don't they just stick to the Hymnns? Those actually sound pretty cool... kinda Satanic at times, but a nice sound. And Southern Christian Gospel... come on... that stuff is GREAT!!! Stick with the classics and please... quit making music that makes Jesus cry.
Dude, as a guy who used to sell a lot of musical instruments shhhh.
Christian Rock/Soul keeps a lot of salesmen employed. They have money out the yang to spend. All these Mega Churches spend millions buying the best musical equipment and AV equipment available to broadcast 3 chord mantra bouncing ball songs to thousands of waving people. I can say that there are a lot of very talented people wasting careers making this music but the music retailers of America are quite glad it's around.
I've always been a hymn guy I guess in this instance the lets round up everybody style faiths figured...can't beat em...join em.
Generally the people that drop Thousands at a time and don't plan on bringing it back in 3 days after thier gig...are Church Band musicians
If people don't go to the polls to defeat the uber religous canidates they have no one to blame but themselves.
I liked Huckabee a year ago because he was for the fair tax, unfortunately it seems he's FAR to religously (politically) motivated for me.
I could care less what religion the guys are as long as they don't want a theocracy. God and Jesus I like personally. Religious governments....nothing but trouble.

Sweet Potato, you asked about my canidate of choice.... at the moment even though I probably disagree mightily economically with the guy I kind of like Barack Obama. So I'm trying to do more research. I like his diverse background of experiences I think that helps him work with people and of the democrats he's the most resonable I think. To me he seems like a reasonable thinking person. I also think if I'm going to be forced into a two party system it's good to have change every few years to keep the country relatively centered.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

i'll take some responsibility for things getting off track. What was intended by me as good natured ribbing snowballed into a ridiculous debate and one of the dumbest back and forths i've ever had in this forum. That being said, as far as the original topic, i've said it once already and i guess i'll reiterate. You can say whatever you want about the "religious right" or "religious assholes" as you so eloquently put it, stealing elections, blah, blah, blah. But it is the democrats who seem poised to nominate hillary clinton as their candidate for president, and if they do THEY WILL LOSE AGAIN and have no one to blame but themselves. Absolutely no one to blame. If democrats are stupid enough, blind enough, deaf enough, anesthesized enough, illiterate enough to recent history to nominate hillary clinton, they have no one to blame but themselves when they lose. Then there will be a huge bit of traffic in this forum of people spouting off about "religious assholes" blah, blah, blah. i'm not tryin' to hear that stupid shit. My fellow left leaning Americans, you'll have noone to blame but your damned selves.

Why will the Democrats lose if Hillary is the candidate?
Would it be because the religious right hates her? Why? Why do they hate her?
I believe the Religious Right will vote Republican, no matter what... even if Satan is the Republican Candidate and says in his campaign that he will get rid of gay marriage and abortion... and Jesus, Himself, is running as the Democratic candidate.

The religious right hates her?
Yeah, they do. So does the NON-religious right. So do the vast majority of independants and a fairly sizable number of democrats. i hate her and i'm not part of the religious right. Its because she's a lying, slandering, swiftboating, do anything to get elected, bitch of a political opprotunist. Look, i'm not a fan of the religious right, either, but i'm also not stupid or naive enough to blame them for stealing elections. If democrats nominate hillary, they are handing the election over. Its their own fault. No one has to STEAL anything.

That is the perfect description of George W. Bush.

And who said anything about 'Stealing'? If you are stupid enough to vote simply because there is an 'R' next to the candidate's name... or because your Preacher tells you who to vote for... it's not stealing. It's stupidity.

i don't disagree about Bush. Bush isn't in the running this time, though. Democrats are banking on the fact that W. screwed things up so badly that dems are guaranteed a win. That, chum, is a HUGE mistake. i guarantee hillary does not win.

I tend to agree with you. Nominating Hillary would be like a death wish for the Dems. I think Obama would be a much, much tougher candidate for the Republicans to beat, for a couple of reasons.
1) He'll garner the independent vote, which is basically what swings national elections these days.
2) If he's running against McCain, they might split the independent vote, but guess what? There are a lot of people on the right who will sit this one out if McCain is their nominee, unless they are given another reason to go to the polls (cough, Hillary). I don't think there's enough Obama-hatred on the right to drive voter turnout.
3) McCain vs. Hillary, I think McCain wins. Because there IS enough Hillary hatred to drive voter turnout on the right. There are a lot of right-wingers that will say, "I don't know about McCain, but I do know Hillary and I'll be damned if I let her get elected." On the other hand, I think there will be a lot on the left who might say, "Fuck Hillary. McCain is almost a Democrat anyway. I'll vote for him." And, of course, McCain would own the independent vote in that matchup.
4) I hate to say this, but I think Obama will get a lot of the sympathy vote. Deep down, America still feels guilty about slavery/segregation/Jim Crow. A vote for Obama says, "Hey, look at me, I'm not a racist. I can feel good about myself." For a white man, it's like a personal deposit toward reparations.

How do you know that? How do you know what the Democrats are banking on? No one knows, not even the Democrats.
The thing at hand is the hardcore religious right... about 25%. These are basically the ones still standing behind Bush. Once you've secured that bloc, all you need to do is split the remaining 75%... actually... all you need is another 26% to win. Toss in a Third Party wildcard... and it becomes easier.

I don't know what the Democratic party leaders are banking on, but I do know the attitude of the rank-and-file democrats seems to be, "It doesn't matter who we nominate, Bush fucked up so bad nobody would DARE vote Republican."
And, like our friend here, I think they will pay dearly for that hubris if they nominate Hill.

You've never heard a democrat voice these sentiments!? That George W. Bush has assured a democrat victory in the next election?! Be honest. Look, i'm not going to fight with you. You're obviously looking for one, but wont find it with me. You obviously have such a complex with religion that you would deny obvious truths in order to push your bullshit "its all because of the religious right" theory. if hillary gets the nomination, democrats lose, and its their own fucking fault. deal with it. do something about it.
