I just stumbled across this article, it's a few months old but I found it to be very straightforward and enlightening.

You should definitely take the time to read the whole thing.

"Once I started looking at the votes Obama actually cast, I began to hear his rhetoric differently. The principal conclusion I draw about “change” and Barack Obama is that Obama needs to change his voting habits and stop pandering to win votes. If he does this he might someday make a decent candidate who could earn my support. For now Obama has fallen into a dangerous pattern of capitulation that he cannot reconcile with his growing popularity as an agent of change.

I remain impressed by the enthusiasm generated by Obama’s style and skill as an orator. But I remain more loyal to my values, and I’m glad to say that I want no part in the Obama craze sweeping our country. "

It was written by Matt Gonzalez, who was President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and is Ralph Nader's running mate.

  • Yes, this one has been posted before but it was so good and telling that it deserves a fresh new thread, imo. :)

    Matt Gonzalez is an incredibly bright man and researches his stuff thoroughly and knows what he's talking about. Nader made an excellent choice this time...this guy is a fighter and a wonderful communicator who simply asks people to think about their choice and look further into their record so they know all about their candidate of choice and that they are okay with all the things he/she has did/supported.

    To me this carries as much weight as an op-ed by whoever John McCain selects as VP.

    Except for the fact that all of the info in it is factual and based on Obama's record.

    yeah, can't weasel around that, sorry.

    well, looking at Matt's record here;

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Gonzalez

    it looks like the most he's done is prohibit the San Francisco Zoo from keeping elephants...

    yeah, I guess I want him to be one step away from the oval office...

    The article wasn't about supporting Gonzalez (although I'm sure the President of the Board of Supervisors in a major city has plenty of responsibility). The article in fact, had absolutely nothing to do with Gonzalez, so I doubt you even read it.

    The article, in a straight forward manner, highlighted a number of instances in which Barack Obama's actions have contradicted his words.

    I read it...thank you very much...

    and while the article may not have been about "supporting" Gonzo, the fact he wrote the piece + the fact he is now running for vice-president = opening a discussion pertaining to the author....

    He looks pretty good compared to Obama. And what has Obama done, now that you mention it?
