Nice piece from Sean Penn about the media, Chavez, the Constitution, and the candidates.

"But I was talking about the Constitution. Most importantly, our own. And what an odd week it has been. Our culture is engrained with a tradition that blurs the line between what is right, what is just and what is constitutional, with what is a scam. That tradition is the cult of personality. What can TV sell, what kind of crap will we buy. And at what point are we buying and selling our rights, our pride, our flag, our children, and succumbing to meaningless slogans that are ultimately pure titles for un-Americanism. How do we know what's American and what is not? Because John Wayne tells us so? Because Sean Penn tells us so? Susan Sarandon? Bill O'Reilly? Michael Moore? Senator Bull? Or Senator Shit? Ann "my bowel expenditure" Coulter? No. It's our Constitution. We don't use it just to win. We depend on it because it's the only "us" worth being. And because it's our children's inheritance from our shared forefathers and the traditions that really do speak best of our country."

I love Sean Penn. He is ironic, but clear, sharp, but clear, amazing and clear. I think the world needs more persons who speaks loud and clear, because the level of the mind of politicians is humiliating. Even so, i´m not sure if they should understand. I´m not talking only about the United States, i dont live there, i cant speak about the means of be on american in this days, and about the american elections. I can speak just about Bush and his sad and bad understanding about the world and how the people in US and other countries suffers the consequences, unfortunately.
But Penn, in the article, talked more than this. About Chavez, i think you can tell everything about him, but not about the legit votes in Venezuela that he received in the first place. And the "corruption elections"-- as several people said before-- less the power now? Or now, and only now, when he lost his bid for the constitucional reforms, the true was rescue? It does mean something, no? The democratic political scene in Latin America is very, very interesting, with Lula in Brazil, Cristina in Argentina and Michelle in Chile, even Moralez in Bolivia. And Sean had curiosity and intelligence to learn about this. He´s a great guy, no doubts.
