Ann Coulter and Why I Got Banned from FreeRepublic.com

I got banned today from FreeRepublic.com

Here's why:

I told them that Ann Coulter is a lousy representative of the conservative movement and that she's a bitch. She personally debases the opposition and adds no intelligent contribution to the political scene. They claimed I was a "troll."

Some say that she is an entertainer, but I think if that is the case, then she should keep her political views to herself just as I expect other entertainers to. I mean, her political arguments are 99% ad hominem.

Typical Ann Coulter ad hominem argument:

A. John Edwards is a fag.
B.
C. John Edwards would be a poor president.

Conservatives DO NOT need this dumbass representing them. Not only that, but she embarrasses christians by claiming that we should go into the middle east, kill their leaders and convert them to christianity. Nothing could be further from the message of christianity than that.

This is one conservative who is DONE dealing with ignorant hicks and their group-think.
All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.

  • Yeah, sometimes it seems like being inside the group means you have to support whatever they're supporting. It just seems to get some people a little ill when you just don't see it the same way. I personally can't stand Obama...he is everything I view as wrong with the democratic party. But some here act like he's one of the only 'realistic' options out there and my kind of thinking is just going to ensure a republican win. As if it's my fault they keep choosing to back these same corporate agenda driven candidates.

I agree with this. These 'Political Experts' are all in it for one thing... money. Whether it's Ann Coulter or Michael Moore. How can I tell? Whenever they are pressed for further explanation of their views, what is their standard canned reply? "Buy my book" or "See my movie".
I think most Americans are more towards the middle, than on the extreme ends of the spectum. The lunatics on the fringe are fun to watch only because they are so far out there. They do not speak for the majority of Conservatives or Liberals... although, if you ask them, they do.

I agree. We should vote as AMERICANS FIRST... Republican or Democrat somewhere further down the line. My opinion of people who vote for a person just because of Political Party is not very nice. I figure, if your only criteria for casting your vote is because you recognize a 'D' or an 'R'... PLEASE, do America a favor and stay at home and watch Jerry Springer on that Tuesday in November.

    I agree with you...

I've never been more left-leaning as the time I actually spent in DC with too many whacko cons...

I get where her points are coming from, but she's just not good at what she does...conservatism would be better off without her.

Don't mistake D's and R's for liberal and conservative...i think people like us have firm beliefs, i would like to see parties run on those....instead of going to the center. if one party fucks up, then vote them out...

it's clear to me that R's and D's are only concerned with power...with reelection serving as their only goal...both parties will fuck over their base so long as they can win reelection...i think most liberals think the dems have sold them out...and sure as hell the gop has sold us out...

    I don't think so.
Most elections are a choice between shit or crap. I think most Americans have reasonable expectations to make this a great country. The extremes either want fascism or anarchy. Most people want to work for a living and raise a family... help, but not fully support the less fortunate... live in peace and enjoy living, right? We vote for the person who is going to do the least amount of harm to our country.
But, there are some who would vote for Satan himself, if he was the same political party as them.
And look at the current Bush. Wreckless use of the military, wreckless spending of taxpayer dollars, gigantic government that is intrusive to your personal life, political appointments of only those who are 'loyal'... what part of Conservativism is that? I want Peace Through Strength, responsible tax expenditures, government out of my living room and the right person for the job.
I KNOW the Dempocrats won't 'Save' us... neither will the Republicans. Americans will save America. When we finally figure out that the television is full of lies... that we are not each other's enemies and become united. A divided nation has never been successful... and never will.

On 80% (four out of five) of the message boards I frequent experince this same problem. This board is the worst of them all. The moderators have waaaay too much arbitrary power in banned posters and deleting posts. I say "arbitrary power" very lossely: I use that term because rarely if ever do the mods have to justify their actions. These mods don't need to explain their actions to the posters, and they certainly don't need to report to other mods. As far as I know, mods are the top of the message board food chain wherever I go. Admins and Mods, unfortunately, stick together. Reporting mods to their fellow moderators usually leads to me (or others) being dismissed as a troll, which in one case led to a warning! That's correct: I reported to a moderator that one anonymous mod was liberally deleting too many posts. Then I received a warning from that second moderator (three warnings gets you a ban.)

The moral of the story? The leaders of this message board and the admins all around the internet are just as childish as the average poster. They're no more.

Vedder doesn't make his living by his political beliefs. Coulter does, and she's a sham.

I don't believe I've ever Ed advertise himself as a political commentator. Ed shouldn't shut up any more than you or I should ... and supposedly serious news programs should not invite you, Ed or I to do a segment as though we were political "experts."

I know. I think that's what he means, but I speak out of turn.

I think calling Coulter an "entertainer" is rather diplomatic of him. I don't disagree.

I'm not speaking for CorpWhore... but, from what I gather, he is saying that Ann Coulter (the entertainer who makes a living selling books and the self-proclaimed 'Voice of Conservatism in America') does not speak for him and/or Conservatives.

i'd vote for anyone except the democratic line-up. the only realistic choice now is ANY republican. we've seen gore go off the deep end and we're grateful he wasn't elected. kerry had to be stopped from getting into office so we got bush again.
people like ann coulter only make the problem worse. i think the party needs to find the best candidate and get them to run; and not leave it to anyone that can raise enough money to throw their hat into the ring.

yeah, that's pretty accurate. I don't understand why she keeps getting interviews.

I'd much rather hear from economists or someone with a non inflammatory point to make.

CorporateWhore getting banned from a message board, it can't be true :)

Much respect to you for putting principles before party. If more politicians followed that logic our government would be the cluster fuck it is now.

also I wouldn't piss on Ann Coulter even if she was on fire.
