I think this is a good presentation concerning the alarmist faction among the environmental movement today.

I'm sure there are enough people that take things to extremes, and this clip has funny parts, but there are lies in it too. If the mayority of scientists agree on data, why would a hand full of people know better what thousands have researched for years? It's almost like believing some African medicine man who sais you can heal AIDS by having sex with a virgin. I think there are enough reasons to be concerned:

The Arctic may be close to a tipping point that sees all-year-round ice disappear very rapidly in the next few decades, US scientists have warned.

"So far, the numbers are pretty disturbing," Stroeve said. "The rate of change has taken us by surprise a bit. I think it's changing a lot quicker than we expected."

For the Austrian village of Hochfilzen it was a disaster. As it prepared to welcome the world's best cross-country skiers and shooters for a biathlon event this weekend there was a problem: no snow.

I am sure most people have seen graphs of the rise of temperature in their country or continent, I think it's impossible to deny it is happening and to imply that we humans have no or little impact on it.

Also this clip states that temperature is already going down which is BS.
    Check:
This image shows the instrumental record of global average temperatures as compiled by the Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia and the Hadley Centre of the UK Meteorological Office.

I don't think the aim of Penn and Teller was to dispute scientific fact. It is to dispute the distortion of those facts.

Well than they do so by distorting the fatcs themselves. Sure those crazy hippies on the lawn make nice imagery, but they make a claim the environmentalists use climate change to further a different agenda, such as anti big companies or globalization, but I just saw a thread in this place stating that some companies don't want An inconvenient Truth to be shown in schools. Thus I think the connection is rightfully made.

"Envirnomentalists" - most of these activists hardly qualify themselves as environmentalists, and they're just spouting off what they've heard without asking themselves what it means or if its even truthful.

I agree and that doesn't just go for environmentalists, the majority of people at protests and gatherings don't know shit about shit. It's either hip or deemed necessary by other ignorant fucks.

I wanted people to see this program just so that if they are indeed concerned about what they are hearing about the environment, then they need to do a little research and understand it, and then understand how to convey that concern.

I dont know if the mayority of people dont know shit about shit, what I do know is that change is very needed and many people agree on that, in this case staying the course might lead to terrible things. Awareness is the key in this case and if in the US people need to go to the streets to get attention for it, why not? I think you confused hip for caring.
