O'Reilly in Iraq

Note: Following the O'Reilly (in Iraq) special on Fox yesterday afternoon, Newt Gingrich of the Christian militant right had his own little special on the conserving of prayer in school, and the Ten Commandments, etc. which he concluded that he was a representive of the Fox Network. Then, on the Christian Broadcasting Network there was some sort of romantic video montage of Bush to the backdrop of a gospel music and that particular brand of patriotism. Anyway, it seems obvious the Christian Coalition of the Right is certainly amping up it's political message on the airwaves.

Anyway. O'Reilly's special wasn't all that bad. I thought it was funny that one soldier compared O'Reilly to a modern day Bob Hope, and somehow, in O'Reilly's blind vanity or whatever, that it made it into the broadcast.
He could have gone farther in getting the viewpoints of more soldiers, however he does admit that he had a limited time in a limited area. He even wondered if some of the soldiers weren't putting him on.

The best part was his interview with the General in command of the Camp he was allowed access to. Surprisingly, he asked some tough questions, and made the General come across as full of BS.

    I often wonder...
What if Gore had won the 2000 election and (all things and events being equal... including the poor decision regarding W.M.D. justifications and Aircraft Carrier landings and Vice President Lieberman's, 'Insurgency in its last throes' comment) this was Gore's War in Iraq.
Would Bill O'Rielly and the FOX News crew be singing the same songs they are singing today? Can you picture Bill o'Rielly and Sean Hannity sticking up for President Gore?
    I can't.

    No.

But even that nitwit Gore wouldn't have gone to Iraq. I would hope he would have gone after Al Queda though.

Maybe O'Reilly had plenty of interviews and they told him what he didn't want to hear.

I get the impression that what O'Reilly actually airs is less than 10% of the truth.

Going after Bin Laden/Al Qaeda was a no brainer... even Dan Quayle would have gotten that one right.
    ...
But, I can definately hear them raging with dissent about Gore's 'Staying the Course' plan and constantly harping on the military getting screwed because of poor planning and inadequate resources... they would sound like me... and i would sound the same.

    How can it be a no-brainer when you don't have a brain?:):D

O'Reilly is a loose cannon, I know that. I don't consider him a serious journalist by any standard. In this instance, in the interview with the General, I think he did alright as a journalist.

This is exactly what Fox wants you to think.

Wow, I've never really seen anyone talk with themselves on a message board.

    What's the problem with that?

Oh, did you come onto a Pearl Jam message board so all of your christian-bashing pals and you could talk about how ignorant the Christian right is? Oh, well I'll let you be productive and continue in that vein.

As for me, I can tell you that Newt Gingrich is the shit and just might be the next President of the United States. He's got a PhD in History and he's not a liberal, go figure. The guy is smarter than any politician in America. He orchestrated the greatest Republican takeover of congress in history.

Say what you want about the Christian right, but Gingrich eats you hippy slobs for breakfast.
All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.

I re-read the whole thread thinking he quoted someone else and then accidentally edited the quote. . .

Maybe we should start "talking to yourself" threads:):):D

Ok, I'm not a Christian, I think religion is a fantasy, but I also think hippism is a fantasy. What does that make me? Oh shit, you don't have a label for that. Quite honestly though, the hippies kick religious ass!
