Election Day...How Ugly will it get?

I live in a predominately Republican area. The local churches are all pushing the McCain/Palin ticket. Today I overheard a man say that most of the Democrats don't vote or won't vote until after they get off work in the afternoon or evening so if the repubs get out to vote early they can delay the system enough to keep some from getting their vote in before the polls close.

I think this is just hot air but it made me wonder if there will be a lot of shit go down on election day.

I'm pretty sure something like that would be illegal, if I'm grasping it right.

Well, judging from the last two elections, and some inconsistencies with voting machines breaking, voters being turned away, mob scenes at polling places, and then an end result of the Senate electing Bush in (in 2000) that I won't doubt that there will be deceptive practices going on.
  • Where I vote there are only about 6 booths... I can totally see a lengthy wait if several people wanted push the time limits which I believe has been raised from 10 to 15 minutes this year in my state.

Do people really have PROOF that the churches are all pushing the McCain/Palin ticket? We hear this all the time, but does anyone have real evidence to back it up?

I regularly attend 3 different Christian churches and I've not heard ONE of them push any particular ticket.

I'm sure there are churches out there doing that, but I don't think it's as prevalent as it seems many people are willing to believe.

Yeah. "A vote for life is a vote for God" is currently the message on the local Church of Christ billboard outside the church.

Outside the Baptist church this Sunday "Make sure Jesus is the CHANGE you make"

Also several hundred at the local Baptist church were told they were bound for hell if they didn't make the choice to cast their votes for life this election season.

I'm sure we'll see a couple of redneck fuckwits turning up at polling stations with rifles, or shooting their wives en route to vote.

pretty ugly i reckon... especially in Florida as the women there look like 103 year old sun dried satsumas.
oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

  • No need to worry, Bush will just roll out his brand new (Oct 1st) personal private army, to crack some skulls, and gas people should anything get out of line.

Just a correction, the Senate did not vote Bush in. The Supreme Court put an end to the recounts in Florida which left the election results in Bush's favor.

As to the question, I don't think you will see any more misconduct in this election than in previous ones.
