anyone have one? just got one for my b-day and to be honest, i don't know anything about them. i've intentionally stayed away from getting an ipod, but now that my parents bought me one...it'd be silly just to let it sit.

so...reviews?
is it any good?
is it worth keeping?
is it worth taking back and getting the 8GB?

any thoughts are appreciated.

I like em, but 4G is wayyy too low for me. I say take it back and get the 160G.
  • Yeah.
    I have a 4gb nano.

I bought it when my 3gen Ipod 30 gig died, i was getting ready to go on a 12 hour drive\move and couldn't do it with country radio blaring the whole way down south.

I was too poor to afford the extra 50 or 100 for more gigs, so i settled for that.

The 4Gg is great for a few things:
giving you a small package (if you exercise, you will appreciate the lowered size and weight)

and forcing you to ONLY put your FAVORITE music on your ipod.

That being said, you can get an 8 gig version for 50 extra dollars, and it is the same size and weight. I would actualy recommend this, unless you want to shell out an extra 100, you could get a classic with 80 gigs.

As far as size limitations, i do agree to some extent.
4gigs is VERY limiting. We're talking like 1000 songs max or something. (with high quality mp3s, it's gonna be around 700 or 800) ...

I do like being made to PICK AND CHOOSE carefuly, so that i don't end up having to skip a shit ton of songs that i don't really carefore all that much, but you can always do this with playlists too, and by the end of the week, i am usualy forced to go change the contents since i'm sick of almost all the albums on my 4gb nano.

I dunno, it's up to you, but for $50 you can double your space.

I will say one thing, 4gb is NOT enough to be storing any kind've of real video on your ipod.

It is video capable, for 4gb sure is skimp for having videos.
    :(
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

    i've got a 4GB, i wish i would have purchased the 8 GB.
  • I would say if you have a large music collection then the difference between the 4 and 8GB are negligible as you will be constantly changing the content anyway. On the other hand if you have a small music collection then it could make a big difference.
