i've only been there once. mid day. ate lunch there and people watched. it was pretty crowded. a lot of people relaxing. seemed like a lot of people there on their lunch breaks. probably to do with their safety. not that i think skateboarders are unsafe, but it could be dangerous having that added traffic coming through.0 -

dirtyfrankdahmer wrote:so maybe just put a time oridinance on when the skaters can skate? don't just take away the right all together.
yah i don't see why it would be a problem later in the day or at night. i've only been there that one time, so i'm not sure how crowded it is in the evening.0 -
It is because skateboarders are annoying.0

Probably because of damage and safety... I used to work at a building where on one of the street corners, there were terraced benches and planters made out of concrete and stone. There were no skateboarding signs posted, but people skated there anyway. There was alot of damage to the corners and edges of the concrete, and the paint was scraped off most of the railings... it really made it look crappy our there. And also, I've seen an occasional skateboard go flying and almost hit pedestrians.
Fifteen years ago, I used to be one of those kids hanging out and skating where I could, but seeing the damage that they cause now, I don't have a problem with places banning them.My whole life

I know what I said, and I don't have a problem with places banning them, if they have a legitimate reason (damage, safety, liability, etc). If you would have asked me 15 years ago, I would have said no way, but like most things in life, when you get older you understand shit better. My whole life
