Ceasefire = Peace

How can people think a ceasefire will work, A ceasefire is not peace. The Korean War had a ceasefire, there still is no peace. N. Korea still tries to influence it's people under communist rule and still people are trying to leave to a free nation suce as S. Korea. I want peace but peace will not come until people understand that a ceasefire is just like repressing your anger, one day it will errupt into something more horrific than anything else that has come before it. What do you think?

  • If they both actually ceased to fire there would be peace.
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

..how can something be more horrific then a war,
    a bloody war?
you loose your friends and family maybe your own life
you loose your home and neighbourhood
you loose everything and just live in fear,
running away from one alarm to the other.
(here every night you see pictures of both sides, south Libanon and north Isreal... and on both sides you see the most horrific misery imaginable!)

what is more horrific then war?
    I don't know an answer!!!
there is no way to peace, peace is the way!
...the world is come undone, I like to change it everyday but change don't come at once, it's a wave, building before it breaks.

Your missing my point, Im asking should there be a ceasefire for all the shooting to stop now then one day it will just build back up again or should Isreal continue this course against Hizbullah? My only reason for asking is that Im currently in Korea and can tell you that a ceasefire does nothing more than make one always wonder when will this happen again. Because N. Korea has proved to decieve the South Koreans by digging tunnels and abusing their trust.

thanks for making your point more clearly. I do understand better now and need to say that you really asked a great question ! :) ...

so, let me try to find a better answer:

I believe, that a ceasefire to stop all shooting is urgently needed right now.
the misery is too big and the anger of the whole region increases.
It is too bloody right now, too many innocent people get killed or just be locked up in a hell... it is a crazy war to me without a reason I can follow.

If this goes on for longer, the danger that all explode in an even bigger war is too big.
The middle east vs. the western world conflict is already on the edge,
by this war, all aggressions on both sides get bigger.
Should we all really live in war for the next years, even so there could be another way?

But I am fully aware, that it will take years to solve this conflict diplomatically.
It will take many concessions on both sides to guarantee a happy together, compromises and real contracts.
But if we do not try it but go for destroying the middle east instead, we won't find peace at all anymore, cause organisations like al Quaida or other radical groups (that are even organized outside the middle east) will never accept being dominated by the west and go on with their kind of war.
    ...

I need to add that I am not that well educated about Korea,
but at least people in this region don't live in fear all the time,
that a suicide bomber could destroy a life or that bombs in general could hit any moment.
it might be a really difficult situation down there, maybe to compare to Germany's wall that seperated west and east,
but at least people on both sides can live with less fear to be killed any moment by arms. And to me that is less horrific...
..and offers the possibility of a solution and get to together again,
that comes from within and around (see Germany)

hey, in case I am wrong, I would be really happy if you correct me.
it seems you get the situation first hand and know life down there best.
