assuming your candidate is on the ballot in all 50 states.... who would you vote for and most importantly, why?

Nobody - just like the last election and many before that.

I can't endorse any of these crooks and liars.
The only people we should try to get even with...

Ron Paul. In my opinion one of the greatest problems we face today is our very own government. It has grown to an unmanageable size and spending is completely out of control. Our government is supposed to work for us and that is no longer the case. Our government caters first to it's own self serving interests and to the interests of lobbest and special interest groups regardless of the effects it may have on the people of this country. To me Ron Paul is the only candidate which even admits that this is the case and is the only one willing to change this. I may not agree with him on every issue but at least he wants to restore the power back to the people where it belongs.

I agree. I'm not liking anyone on either side. and I'm very disappointed how the media gets to choose who is the best. it really bothers me.

Ron Paul. He's the only candidate with a focus on individual liberty.

    Yes.

Other candidates seem to focus on fixing social ills, benefitting the greater good, etc...

Who else do you see that has a focus on individual liberty?

(Ron Paul only one focus on individual liberty)

    I agree. It's why I am not a fan.

I think there is a role for government in making a better society. Whereever the market fails (and that is probably the difference between myself and a liberatarian--they don't think it does with few exceptions), I am OK with government intervention.

I, with all my commie social programs and national bike trail grants, etc. etc. still feel that someone with my view of how a government could operate, could probably find about a third of the national budget to cut in 15 minutes. And I firmly believe that Ron Paul would have an interest in doing that. None of the rest would. But I am sure that Ron and I have different views on why poor people are poor, what to do about impoverished kids, etc. Like most liberals, I am with him on most social issues, but when he starts trying to slash the budget, some social programs that I believe in will be the first to go...it's the path of least resistance. The things that are really there to help corporate America are going nowhere.

As for who I'd vote for...I don't even know who the greens are running. If all of the notable candidates were part of it, it would be Kucinich for me.

Not publicly acknowledging stances on the issues...that's just crazy enough to get someone elected.

of course... this is a really good page

    http://www.gravel2008.us/issues

theres a good video about a national ID card also..

the reason im supporting this guy is because...Gravel, like Nader is running for us.. he is currently in no political position which means he is not abandoning his elected job to campaign.. Nader has said he will not run against gravel...he is that respected... also..He understands how the government works...he is a veteran of politics...he doesnt talk out of his ass...ask an alaskan... while he was senator there a place called tuolumne i think its spelled...its one of the songs on into the wild... he chained himself to i think it was a tree that had to be removed so that the government could build a commercial bridge for the only reason of shipping things that were unnecessary... this wasnt any bridge it was supposed to be a million dollar project for the sole purpose of benefiting corporations.

youre out of your element and its dissapointing to me that you would dismiss a person you have no knowledge of.

i hope you lose your voters card and all identification come election day :)

What do you mean I am out of my element?

I admit that I have not done my homework on Gravel (I have a calendar year 2008 rule before I do any proactive looking into this), but the real point I was making was that some people seem not to want their stances to come out for as long as possible. It's what's going to sink Obama...his stances will come out. Just a wisecrack response to Jlew's post.

And don't worry. Come election day, I won't be voting for someone who has a chance.

well im saying...he makes his stance clear...in his debates i hear people saying this guys off the wall...well it may seem that way when he is on stage with a bunch of career politicians who dont give a fuck about change and you. so in a way...when he is debating he is off the wall if the wall is refusing to answer the questions they are asked..or answers back with another question.

straight, clear, defining answers apparently nowadays is crazy talk.
