  • Essentially, this is true. Wouldn't it be nice if the candidates all had the same amount of money for their campaign, all were given equal media exposure minus the spin and we forgot political parties, the lines they draw for us and their nasty ways of getting people behind them....and we voted on a person, their record and their platform alone?

If Ralph Nader manages to get his name on the ballot in even 35 states, come in here with this garbage. Until THAT happens, save us the "stealing votes from Nader" buffoonery.

So you think he shouldn't be on the ballot? Why should a person be denied the chance to run for president if they want to and they qualify? Do you agree with the DNC efforts to keep Nader off the ballot?

When did i say that? Please don't put words in my virtual mouth. The point is, whether i agree with it or not, he won't be on the ballot in, probably even half the states, so to say Obama or anyone else is stealing votes from Nader, is beyond silly.

It was three questions...meaning you had to answer them because I didn't know what you thought.

If the DNC keeps him off the ballot it would be much worse than just stealing votes....it's stealing his rights.

He's already been working with a team of pro bono lawyers to make sure this shit doesn't happen again.

Now I'll ask again, do you think he should be allowed on the ballot? Do you support the DNC efforts to keep him off?

Look, i DID answer it. i could care less. By all means put him on the ballot. Shit, put him on twice. Won't matter. Hell, put MY name on the ballot, i stand just as much chance of winning as Ralph Nader. MY point is simply that saying the other candidates are stealing votes from Nader, even jokingly as i believe was the case, is just plain dumb.

    Once will suffice.

Good to see that ensuring democracy and the freedom of choice in this nation weighs heavily on your mind.

    Go fucked system go!

Listen, Abook, i'm not trying to be disrespectful. i never am, despite whatever notions you have about me. i've never been a huge fan of the two party system, myself. i've always registered non-partisan (i switched this year so i could vote in my states primary). i'm all for choice and i certainly respect yours. i also realize its a slippery slope, however. Where do you draw the line? Shit, why not have ten or fifteen choices on the ballot? Its dangerous when you run the risk of electing a president who wins only 25% of the vote. Do we really want a president that 75% of the people voted against? That, i think would cheapen democracy more than offering two or three people to choose from. Its kind of a rock and hard place situation.

No one I've talked to has been asking for 10 or 15 names on the ballot. You should definitely demonstrate that you have enough support to run. Nader has.

What amounts to "enough support"? Less than 1% is not "enough support". Again i don't care if he runs, i don't care if his name is on the ballot, i dont, care if you vote for him (in fact, i respect your right and decision to do so), i just think his candicy is ridiculous and based upon nothing but his ego and desire to try and screw shit up, and to protest the sysyem. Oh, well.

i didn't bash anyone, i'm not fat, have never had a latte, drive a chevy prizm, and am currently enrolled in a masters program. What's, truly laughable is spouting off about someone you know nothing about. Might i suggest Lexapro?
