"The intelligence community doesn't have the facilities to carry out the kind of international surveillance needed to defend this country since 9/11," Vice President Dick Cheney told the Heritage Foundation last week. "In some situations, there is no alternative to seeking assistance from the private sector. This is entirely appropriate."
i like this one!

Nice quote.
I try not to get too paranoid, but all this listening in crap bugs the hell out of me. Sure, it's supposed to be for catching terrorists, but how soon after a conversation I have with somebody expressing my desire for a house or a car am I going to receive an offer for just that thing. Ya think it'll come to that?Walking can be a real trip

Totally!
There are places that I like to keep certain views and such under the radar. I do not need these fucking advertisements goading me into philosophical discussions (rude arguments) regarding the beliefs represented by my purchases.
Here's a good four letter word: CASHWalking can be a real trip

If this were to happen, I would probably purposely purchase porn JUST so I could see some adds when I walk to get a hot dog. I think it'd be hilarious.0 -

Not to mention if you state your disgust with the the way the government does things they might decide to consider you a terrorist as well. That'd be scary if that started to happen.0 -

I just started a corporation in Canada (me the CFO baby!!!....lol...but true)...and needless to say it was a no-brainer (as compared to a partnership)....the liability protection alone makes it worth-it.....not much to add but I can understand the strength of corporations....0

Not sure how Canada law works but a strength of partnerships/LLC in the states is the ability to avoid double taxation that exists with corporations.SHOW COUNT: (170) 1990's=3, 2000's=53, 2010/20's=114, US=124, CAN=15, Europe=20 ,New Zealand=4, Australia=5
Mexico=1, Colombia=10 -

Yeah but I can get around the double taxation.....legally (well to a monetary point)....but overall if I was a partnership my taxes (at the highest bracket) with provincial/federal would be 46% (or near but it is the mid 40's) for every dollar over $180,000....fuck that BS....rather build up corporation....and take out quartly dividends (tax free up to a decent value...then taxed relatively fairly after that) and aslo take advantage of the Small Business Tax Deduction (my corporation only pays 11% up to $400,000...which I believe is increasing next year to $500,000 or $450,000). Plus me and fiance are majority share-holders therefore "enhancing" profits by splitting the income....
I did all the math incorporating was without a doubt the best way for us to go.....0 -
It's really pretty scary. Nobody who has any political power is willing to do anything about this because they get their funding from these same corporations.Jimmy Carter has disco fever.0

From the article: "If these companies are subjected to lawsuits that could cost them billions of dollars, they won't participate. They won't help us. They won't help protect America," he said. "Liability protection is critical to securing the private sector's cooperation with our intelligence efforts.""
Translation: they wont help us break the law any more
If what they were doing was legal, there would be no need for immunity.0 -

exactly right... The people that somehow got elected in this country (media) are using corporations to perform illegal acts. and now these corporations are being pardoned... welcome to 2007 the president just doesnt have the power to pardon individuals. George W. Bush is making history... pardoning entire corporations.
