anyone else think this thing is weird? at first i thought it was cool to put information about yourself to the entire world on a website...

now i see some of my sisters friends pages and hers and people in my family..and people ive met...and who the hell wants to post personal information that should be had through conversation.

not to mention videos, pictures, thoughts, poetry, deep thoughts..life experiences...

i think whore is the wrong word...but those who do this have to be something...i dont think its healthy

and its fucking creepy learning things about someone with out them knowing!!!

All in all, it's probably healthy.

do you think about kids who grow up with this losing the ability to communicate verbally? sort of an evolution of losing your voice.

meh, I suppose it depends on how you use it. If it gets you in touch with someone you have not seen or talked to in years, I suppose that is a good thing.

I do think it's creepy. It's just bizarre to me, almost like commercializing yourself because just "being" isn't enough anymore.

I think it's weird for some people to "MySpace". I can see it in some cases, but for a lot of people it is creepy. I feel like some people I know that use it are trying to "create" this image of themselves. The cool thing about MySpace for them is they can control this image and other people's perceptions. Most people's pages come across as "look how cool I am, look at what I do and who I hang out with."

I use it for networking my business. and also keep in touch with friends across the country. it can be useful, but i'm also an adult.

I am (will) be a little creeped out if I had a 13 year daughter using it.
  • Myspace is awesome and there's always the privacy setting. I love interacting with people there. :)

ditto. Myspace has served a great purpose for me, and I not only hang out with people from the board here who inspired me to join myspace, but I've also met some wonderful and talented, unique friends there. :) It's got great networking potential on many levels.

The networking there has been incredible and I too have met so many amazing people through myspace. I think it mostly is what you make out of it. :)

Which brings me to the point that it's been great knowing other sides to board people through avenues such as gabbly and myspace.:) I'm pleased to count you among my friends, jlew, in life, on the board, and on myspace and gabbly, too. :)

Myspace is a good forumn for communicating with friends. I do hate the plethora of friend requests and e-mails I get from aspiring female porn stars asking me to check out their pictures. The last thing I need is to check out these pics and it ends up being some 16 year old girl trying to piss off daddy and have fucking Chris Hansen knocking on my door.

All anyone has to do with myspace is block under 18s' profiles, and be careful opening bulletin inner links.

Myspace is fine, I just hate all the skanks that flood you with friend requests that want you to go to their sex talk sites.
