Yep, and I'm glad for that.
You're glad that all the others would kill innocent people?

How many innocent people are we talking about?
Yep, that's exactly what I am glad for spin, spin....
I'm glad that there are people that will make some very difficult calls in order to save many more lives. Which I believe taking out Bin Laden would do.
Two American families
spin the black circle...
We're not going to agree on this...

not that it's much of a debate.
you rarely see the candidates actually engage with each other. they mostly answer questions posed to them by the moderator. questions from the audience are a good thing, but I'm assuming the questions are screened first. i'd like to see the candidates ask questions of each other.
i mean, ever read the Lincoln/Douglass debates? we're a far cry from those days.
as for my opinion of Gravel. OK, he's a little rough around the edges. i would prefer him to be a little less erratic. but what the fuck - he's the best guy out there. he's unscripted. he knows his shit. he understands what needs to be done. he seems to be genuinely fed up with the status quo and feels he has to change it. i tend to think the position of President attracts only attracts corrupt individuals. Gravel is the rare case of someone who really wants to shake up the system. his national initative idea would put a much greater check on Federal power than anything that currently exists. not to mention his plan to abolish the IRS and establish the Fair Tax.
this debate format doesn't work too well for him. he's much more compelling when giving longer speeches. look him up on YouTube - there's severals vids of him there.
one thing that stuck out at me during the last debate is that although he's very honest about his distaste for the policies of the other candidates (except Kucinich, who he hasn't mentioned yet, but probably doesn't have any issues with), he seems willing to work with them. he seems to delight in his position as their elder. I liked how he said he would appoint Bill Clinton as a roving ambassador, but only "under supervision" .
I also found it interesting that he was the only candidate who thought English should be our "official language". it actually makes me wonder if he knew the difference between "official" and "national" in this case. i have to say I wasn't aware there was a difference. i read that a solid majority of hispanics (and even solider majority of the general population) supported making English our official language. i think we either all have to be bilingual (taught to be fluent in english and spanish in grade school) or have only one language. but i do realize this is very complicated given the demographics, particularly in the southwest.
