Lookie what I found from this morning/last night.

An official from her campaign tells the Canadian embassy to take her comments to renegotiate NAFTA with "a grain of salt".

"The chief of staff to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper said that an official from Senator Hillary Clinton's campaign told the Canadian embassy in Washington to take her criticism of the North American Free Trade Agreement with a ``grain of salt,'' the Canadian Press reported."

Of course, the Clinton camp is denying it.
ooops...I see I misspelled "Canada" in the subject line. :)

i read this story this morning from another source. Its hard to say publicly, but after doing some soul searching, i think i may dislike hillary clinton even more than i dislike george bush. Don't get me wrong, i harbor nothing but contempt for bush and his policies, but i honestly think hillary generates someting inside me that not even bush does. Bush is so stupid that you almost can't help feeling sorry for the guy. hillary i just can't stand. Period.

I feel the exact same way. I heard within a couple of days after the debate that she reached out to the Canadian gov't. When she was hammering Obama on it I tried to find links to her doing the same thing, but couldn't find either. They kept it under wraps until after Ohio which is all they had to do.

here is a quote from that article from teh globe and mail that you posted.

They said that Mr. Brodie sought to allay concerns about the impact of Mr. Obama and Ms. Clinton's assertion that they would re-negotiate NAFTA if elected. But they did say that Mr. Brodie had no recollection of discussing any specific candidate — either Ms. Clinton or Mr. Obama.

yet again no proof about either story as who knows who this person talked to.

Yeah, unfortunately that pesky thing about journalists "not naming sources" comes in handy when necessary.

But I do find this quote interesting:

"government officials did not deny the conversation took place"

I'm kind of giggling a little bit. It sounds like someone is taking that Southpark song "Blame Canada" literally. :D

The Clintons would never let the truth get in the way of an advantageous story... but call them on it...and they get really really angry... I wonder why...

and the lady still has the nerve to cry on cue and people freaking believe it... you have to be kidding me.

Do you mean who did the Canadians speak with in the Clinton camp?

If so, it would appear that matter is under investigation by the Canadian government.

also about Obama camp. it is so easy to believe that everything teh canadian government (which is funny because here in canada, we don't believe what they say) is true but we hav eno proof. let's wait for the proof.

I'd believe it coming from Clinton and Obama, though story neither has proof. But some are more of the pick and choose types around here.

As someone who has voted for Obama and hopes to have the oppurtunity to vote for him in November I have to say that I believe both the story on Obama and the one on Clinton to be true.

This whole NAFTA debate was just a show for Ohio and I highly doubt either of these candidates if elected have any intention on changing NAFTA. In fact we'll probably never hear it mentioned after this campaign. Just my opinion.
