Leroy Brown or Barrack Hussein Obama?

Look, this is going to sound like an incredibly racist question and I apologize if it is offensive. But I thought it was an intriguing question that was raised by someone other than myself…so I thought I’d see what the PIT thought of it.

Barrack Hussein Obama’s name is considered a liability by a certain sect in this country. The question I pose is, what if his name were Jamal, Leroy, Jerome, etc etc…would that be more or less advantages?

The people who wouldn't vote for someone of color probably don't see a difference in either name.

I'm not sure I agree. I think that in this age Housien would be considered worse. I think that the people who are using his middle name in a derogatory way are doing so to make people think he's Muslim. Its not about him being black. They want to rile up the people who are easily manipulated into thinking that there is some underlying link between Obama and Muslim extremest terrorism. And its working. The stupid people of this country (like my mother's ex husband) are "afraid of him cause he's one of them Muslims"... that's a direct quote.

First, I'd like to ask these people (my ex-step father) exactly what is it about his possibly being a Muslim makes you so afraid if it is not the idea that these insipid underhanded conniving people have put into your head... this non-existent link between Obama and Muslim Terrorism? It only fuels the fire of racism and bigotry for Muslims in general and makes you look like a complete moron for buying into it. Because when you boil it right down all you are saying is that you would fear a Muslim president for no other reason than that he would be Muslim. What is right about that? And these people who are doing this and claim it is not bigotry... they are just the worst kind of people... playing on weak minded people's fears. It makes me sick!

The fact that he's not a Muslim anyway is secondary to the argument.

Thats exactly part of my point. There are some people who choose to play that up which only builds on those fears. I think that is the worst kind of underhanded dirty politics and it only makes those people look like bigots. I'm sure they don't just LOOK like bigots either. I'm sure they are bigots.
