Intersting. Not surprising or overly scandalous, in fact this is what wiki is all about...but it does show that wiki is tough to cite as a credible source on most issues, and gives direct insight into the way words can be manipulated as propaganda or image control...

Cool app/program (whatever comp geeks call it) this guy came up with anyway.

This is the site if you want to try it for yourself:

  • This is totally to be expected. Crazy eh?

    Thanks for the keen eye.

Together we can all make a difference.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Wikipedia is useful for finding out unimportant facts , like the name of a character in a film , a celebrity's birthday etc .

But I wouldn't trust it for opinion or political comment .

I dunno, but it seems to happen a lot around here....it's just easier than sorting thru a million google results for what you're looking for, I guess. And most of the time, what you find is pretty accurate and leaves you with room (and links) to research your topic further, and see opposing viewpoints. It's not useless....most of the facts are verifiable...but to see the subjects of the articles editing to fit their agenda, or the image they want to portray is interesting.

    the diebold edits are brutal.....

someone from a Wal-Mart IP changing:

" As of 2004, about 70% of the products sold in Wal-Mart stores have at least a component manufactured in China."

    to:

"today, though, Wal-Mart buys merchandise and services from more than 68,000 U.S suppliers and supports over 3.5 million supplier jobs in the United States",

shows how easily manipulated wiki is...but not only that, it shows EXACTLY the way they spin things, by giving us a "before and after".

And if this is what these corps want said on wiki, it shows the directions they would be pushing the mass media they advertise in (or control).
