To those who think it's ok for the U.S. (and Israel) to give military aid to Georgia:

    Haha this cracks me up

"But Israel's foreign minister said such sales could destabilise the region. "

    1) the middle east is really stable, right

    2) im sure he's definition of destabilis = Israel having less of an advantage.
  • Russia was arming Syria and Iran long before we were arming Georgia. Russia's ability to sell arms put us to shame. look at the ak-47.

I think both sides are guilty of that...iran has f14's and they are not russian. Not to mention sadaams chemical weapons that he hit the kurds with.

Not wrong, inaccurate. Whatever you may think of the US and Israel, Syria's actions have been far more dangerous and unstabilizing than what Georgia has done until now. Aside from majorly fucking up Lebanon, Syria's government also has fun funding terror acts around the world and terrorists in the region.

one thing that's inaccurate of your post is your forgetting to put the word 'allegedly' ;)

Georgia and Russia have had serious problems - problems that both the U.S. and Israel knew about. Arming and training the Georgian army may not seem like a big deal to you, but it certainly is to Russia.

it's hypocritical to support arms and support given to Georgia by the U.S. and Israel but not to Syria by Russia.

Don't get me wrong, I think giving arms is pretty wrong, especially in this case. It's just that I have less resentment towards Georgia than Syria. But I guess I'm also less touched by what Georgia did than by what Syria (allegedly) did. I guess in both cases the 2 superpowers should just stop using proxies to fuck around.
