Is this true about PJ?

I met some people last night in Camden and they said Pearl Jam tells all the venues to stop selling Beer after two hours.
I don't believe this. I think all venues stop selling b/c THEY made the decision, not PJ or any other band.
At Eagles games, they stop selling after half time. I am sure its the same thing.

Any input on this?

I think its the venues choice...
    Conversations getting dull
There's a constant ringing in my ears
Sense of humor's void and numb
    And I'm bored to tears.......

PJ does in fact stipulate that condition to each individual venue,...

Every concert I've been to (not just PJ) they stop serving about half-way through the event. It's pretty standard.

yeah that happens all the time. and with good reason. Eagles fans are bad enough but DRUNK Eagles fans are really sub-human. Anyone who has met one knows what I'm talking about. but for those who haven't, I'll describe one (of very many) circumstance that I've either witnessed myself or heard of: My friend was at the NFC championship game that the Eagles lost to the Carolina Panthers. While the Panthers were running out the clock in the closing minutes, he saw some drunk-ass Eagles fan whip out his cock and piss on the head of the woman sitting in front of him. She was wearing a Panthers jacket.

that's really only the tip of the iceberg. And Eagles fans are so proud of that type of shit. "Yeah man, fuck her! She shouldn't have been wearing a Panthers jacket," they'll say. They really have no grip of reality.

Nice try... I used to work for the Forum and Dodger Stadium... It is always a venue decision when it comes to food and beverage...

I've actually been to events -- can't say if it was Pearl Jam or not -- where they've had signs up saying, "Beer sales will be shut off at such and such a time due to artist's request."

I want to say it WAS at a PJ show, but I couldn't be sure.

Two hours? Doors opened at 6:30 and cut off was 10:15 according to a sign I saw.

I have to believe it varies venue to venue and it is ultimately the venue's decision. At Tampa, Beer sales were cut off at 9:30 sharp, but at W. Palm, and Camden they were selling later.

I used to work at a venue that Pearl Jam has played a few times, and I know at our place, it was dictated by the venue, not the band. The same goes at a lot of sporting events, like I know when I go to a baseball game I usually see them stop selling around the 7th inning.
words seem so out of place.

    No drinking and driving kids!

If you're getting up to get a beer after the start of the show, you should be shot anyways. There's plenty of time to drink before and after. :p

It is not the band's option to shut down alcohol sales. It's the venue's, and in the case of someplace like Massachusetts, the time the alcohol sales are shut down is dictated by the state.
Just because there's signs that say "at the artist's request" doesn't make it true. Pretty good ploy though for the esp gullible fans.

its not the artist, it wasen't even the alcohol that was just shut down, you couldn't buy from many of the vendors after a certain point they all shut down, i couldn't even get a soda after 10pm, they only left 1 or 2 open vendors
50+ shows and lost count somewhere along the way
  • No one should be buying that $8 swill anyway. Eight bucks can almost buy you a twelve of something more flavorful, like Yeungling.
