Carol Shepp-the one who stood by him, raising their three kids, through his trying five years in a Vietnamese prison, only to be dumped upon his heroic return for a younger woman, despite, or because of, her having suffered permanent disabling and disfiguring injuries in an auto accident during his absence.

it starts to lose its meaning?

Seriously. YEW-ESS-AEY? What does that even mean?

Back on topic. Another thing that being a POW taught him was: McCain don't do fatties.

Only Carol, John and probably their closest friends know what type of relationship they had but that doesn't mean that what he did wasn't a douche bag move. What is done in a person's personal life is their own business but when someone boasts about being a man of morals and ethics when he ditched his first wife for a younger hotter one I have a hard time taking them seriously.

I'd sort of forgotten about her until all the kids came out on stage and then I realized - wait, those aren't all Cindy's kids and then I realized he'd left her out. Yeah, it would have been classy to have mentioned her.

if they're going to tear john edwards a new one for his actions, i think it's only fair to point out the double standard.

huh? you think this is the same? besides, I dont give a shit what edwards does in his personal life either. I do care, however, that he lied about it over and over right to our faces.

Your right it is no one's business but don't expect to be taken seriously then when you start talking about how loyal and moral you are. It is funny though how the "liberal media" doesn't say a word about this but once the John Edwards story broke they where all over him, and we wasn't even running for the highest office in the land.

it is similar enough. they both betrayed women they claimed to love in a time of need. they made edwards into a headline, i don't see why it's unfair to talk about mccain's own similar actions.

what is it with you people and lying? lying about weapons in iraq: no biggie. lying about cheating on your wife: the man is evil! i'd be more worried about him not trying to lie about it... that shows gross stupidity. and if he wants to lie to keep his private life private and out of the media, that's his call. compared to the lies most politicians tell, it means nothing.
    and like that... he's gone.

the edwards story was big because he repeatedly LIED about it and was way more of an advocate for family values and that shit.

from what I understand, mccain and carol got divorced, in some part due to his captivity and being apart for 5 years. he remained friends and she actually worked on his campaigns. wheres the crime here?

    again, none of my business.

Family values has more to it than just his relationship with his wife.

And I don't blame him for lying about it. It's no one else's business.

It was between his wife and himself. And she FORGAVE him.

    Remember forgiveness?

You know, what Jesus would do. What good Christians are supposed to do. What you Repubs love to cling to and blabber about when it benefits your self-righteous agendas.

Edwards made a huge mistake and he worked out with his wife. And they remain close.

McCain dumped his wife for a rich, younger women after a rather secretive affair. And his wife forgave him. They remain friends.

I see no difference, except the hypocrisy of the self-righteous and intellecually dishonest Extreme Right.

depends what they're lying about. if they lie to american kids about there really being a santa clause, cool. if they lie to america about cheating on their wife because they don't want to hurt their loved ones, not cool but understandable and has nothing to do with their ability to be a good politician. if they lie to america about policy or what's happening in the world or who our threats are or what legislation says and means, that's bad and that's a problem.

people lie. it's human nature. i'm more concerned with how they can perform on the job than how they cope with an intrusive media.

i'm not saying edwards is or should be off the hook. i'm saying if his shady marital decisions are fair game, so are mccain's.

for the record, i never heard edwards preaching about family values. i heard him talking a lot about jobs and working class families.
    and like that... he's gone.

mccain wanted a divorce from his wife after being held in a prison aand tortured for 5 years. I remember reading, he changed and his feelings about life changed. he wanted a new start maybe? hell I dont know.

edwards gave some blonde dipshit 100k/year job to post a few videos on youtube and continually had sex with her while his wife suffered from cancer.

    yup. same thing.

I really think men aren’t built to have one woman. It’s something left over from their caveman days. Religion has tried to suppress it.

Now that being said, I’d fucking kill my man if he cheated on me. Ha!

But really, I think it’s in their DNA and don’t know what the fuss is all about.

I'm definitely okay with people lying when they are being publicly bullied to reveal personal matters of an intimate nature. You know, it's personal. No business of anyones else and has no bearing on anything in his political career.

Oh my little, blurry-eyed friend; you'd be shocked to learn how many people you admire and look up to ....have lied about their personal/intimate/private lives. Shocked I tell you, Mavrick.

exactly, you don't know. we're entitled to ask, if he's touting family values in his campaign. personally, i find it slightly suspicious that he tossed aside a woman who stood by and waited for him for 5 years after she'd been disfigured so he could marry a more attractive and also very wealthy woman who could conveniently finance the start of his political career. sounds equally scumbag-ish to me. but what do i know?

I just remember when Clinton was in office.
It was intern this, intern that.
I was so sick of it.

What $ did Edwards use to pay his mistress? Was it his own...nope, his campaign's $...who'd he get that from? That's right, the American people that gave it to him based on the values of his campaign.

He betrayed more than just his wife that for sure. Personally, I don;t care. I knew he was always a slimeball...he was a lawyer after all. And he didn;t have any of my $.

Hell, his own campaign manager seems to think his lying was a big deal.

His lying is a big deal to his family and if he was still in the race to the public but since he is out of the race I thought the coverage was ridiculous.

The fact that the story was held back until after his campaign was over was ridiculous.

Liek I said though, doesn't matter much to me, but I bet it does to his supporters and those that gave him $ for his mistress.

I would be a bit pissed if I thought my campaign contribution went to Edward's getting his dick wet. I do have to say though Democrats, at least the more recent ones, have shitty taste in mistresses. Now JFK he was the fucking man. He must be rolling over in his grave seeing the skanks the Dems are hooking up with now.
